Going to be in New Orleans, can anyone recommend a group ride?
I'll be looking in NOLA Labor Day weekend. I'm probably picking up a bike from Bicycle Michaels. Can anyone suggest a good group ride to catch on with on Sunday? I'm assuming everything on Saturday would be too early for me since the shop opens at 10. But Saturday late morning through early evening would be great too. I'd like to get some steady miles in . I would prefer a ride on the training side of the equation rather than the bagels and coffee side, but will take what I can get. Mostly I don't want to end up gator-chow.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

In New Orleans every ride is a group ride. You always have the humidity and heat to keep you company. Enjoy. Favorite sport there is to see how many cockroaches you can run over on a ride

You could hook up with Joey Bikes and go trolling for people running red lights and right hooking you. Of course if you wear any lycra he would continually pass you and post the video on youtube.

Here's a list of rides put on by the New Orleans Bicycle Club (NOBC), the NOLA racing club. Here's the homepage for Crescent City Cyclists, the NOLA touring/sportive club. Click on the calendar tab for a list of rides. Great folks in both clubs, but be advised the NOBC folks will do their best to rip your legs off.
Due to the heat and the fact that both clubs' rides usually take place on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain with start times around 0700, you're SOL for Saturday. You should be good to go for Sunday.

Thanks. Schedule changed. I'll be there with a bike Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So this should work really well. I'll make sure to keep my gps enabled phone on me since I'l looking for more of a recovery-ride, than a tempo ride may end up OTB of anything looking to rip my legs off.
