Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

YOU SUCK!!

I just got done riding the freakin' trainer again. The sun never shines in Illinois. I swear it doesn't.

California can certainly be beautiful after a bit of rain.

That first shot should be in a bike mag, you know what I mean? Could use a little more shoulder . . . but it just makes you want to ride somehow, doesn't it?

Booo! Who needs layers in that weather. It was a great day for riding, so I did Hamilton in my shorts and a jersey (Although I did regret washing my gloves this morning as they weren't ready). I had to leave the observatory quickly though as I was starting to get a bit chilly with the wind.

My God!...You're cruel..I just got my new roadie a week ago and havent been able to get more than a few miles in....and that was near midnight in the 18 degree weather here in New Jersey. You really know how to twist the knife

Seriously though, that is beautiful country and I do envy you.

Happy pedaling

I would appreciate rain this time of year. On sunny days all the earth generated
heat escapes (the clouds gives an insulating layer), and we’re sub. 32.
Cold air holds poorly to moisture, and dry air is bad for your inspirational system.
We have to wait until late march before we can hope for any heat from the sun.

So. Rain isn’t that bad after all. At least not if you are far north.

Sore...Great pictures..I went riding in Northern San Diego today also...Looks like you may have had slightly less cloud cover than we did...Thanks for pics...Personal preference...I always thought man's greatest invention, the bike , enhances the natural landscape...We are all just voyerus when it comes to looking at others bikes...
Curious, what kind of climbing do you suspect you did today.?Great ride, I am sure..Sun sure enhances any ride.

wah. please note that mr rad (and myself) are living in portland. your cries of "too much rain down here in california" are ringing on deaf ears.

mind you, we've had a few super weekends this winter... and another one coming up

Be thankful for where you rode today. You could have been stuck riding with me instead.

(Warning DEPRESSING Pictures)

Well not really, until I saw yours.

Dam. I used to ride those roads when I worked in the valley. Now I get london, cambridge and cardiff where the hills just arn't like that.

Now if you put in some picture of Mount Tam with the mimosa in flower, I will just completely breakdown in tears.

HILLS, glorious HILLs, except for speed bumps, the bridges over the intracoastal waterway, about 60' max,are the tallest we have in So Florida. The compensation is that this winter, well thats a relative term here, has been a continuous bike ride. This morning lite breeze, about 55degrees partly cloudy and I'm off shortly to ride along the beach and ocean to Boca and back
Dam, would like to live out there
