pain on the bike
so this entire last year i have been having left anterior knee pain on the downstroke of the pedal rotation. most everything I have read says I should raise my seat up, and a few things said to lower it. Well I lowered it to see how that would feel, horrible, felt absolutely horrible. So I raised it up my last ride and it felt a smidge better. got through the ride, and it was more of a dull pain instead of a sharp stabbing. I went to the bike shop and they told me my shoes and cleats were wore the hell out. shoes are 10 years old, and i have some inserts that i used to use in my basketball shoes. So, needless to say I have ordered some new pearl izumi shoes and they shoulld be here this saturday. Could one sided knee pain be from bad shoes and worn out/improper inserts? I really hope so, cause my cycling has decreased so much this year because of this injury.

positioning could also cause pain, if the cleat was angled bad it could cause a problem. I had left knee pain for a while and adjusted the cleat; it fixed the problem.

Other than crashing, the easiest way to injure yourself riding is by a bad cleat/pedal setup.
Think about your knee, your tibia and fibula moving sie to side each time you rotate that leg. Ouch.
Can it happen on one leg? Sure. Most folks, me included, need different setups on each leg. In my case, a shim only on the right side.

raised the seat, seemed to help a lot, I did a real easy 10 minute warm up, like 12 mph warm up, and then eased into it, at the end of the 20 mile loop I was cruising at 20 mph without pain. I am just going to take it easy from here on out. I set up an appointment to get a fitting at our bike shop. I feel like my left leg is pushing out when it's on the bottom side of the stroke. weird to explain, but i definitely need to make some changes on the cleat for sure. On the other hand, today I was pain free and was giving it hell for 20 minutes straight.
