Degrees of separation from Lance Armstrong
 

I rode with a guy earlier this summer who recently rode with George Hincapie. I'm not sure how this "degrees of seperation" thing works exactly but this puts me 2 or 3 degrees of separation from Lance.

I feel faster already! Or maybe dopier.

Greg Lemond grew up here and went to the high school where my wife taught. I rode with him once, for about 20 seconds, when he was 15 or 16 years old. But neither of us knew he'd grow up to be Greg Lemond....

It's like when you ride with a guy named Bradley Manning but can't predict that he'll grow up to be Chelsea.

I once walked through a museum kinda leap frogging exhibits with a small group that contained Tony Randall. He acted with Klugman and that gets me all the way back to Bogey and Henry Fonda.

My cousin-in-law won The Apprentice a few years back, so that connects me to Donald Trump, Trump to Oprah, Oprah to Lance.

Lance and Greg know each other. So *if* Greg met Bradley, but never met Chelsea. But you know Chelsea.

Would that mean 3 or 4 degrees for separation to Lance?

I rode this summer with a guy that used to race against Lance, when he was a junior.
He brought it up a lot.

I know an oncologist. Both he and Lance use Amgen products.

I own/ride a Bottecchia like Greg's Bottecchia.

My soon to be ex-wife rides a Trek Madone.

Actually, she once asked why I ride nice Italian bikes while she has to ride a "crappy" Trek Madone (that is a Madone 5.2 women specific model--which is a pretty nice bike).

I told her that when she was as good a rider as I am (which is not all that good) she can also have an Italian bike.

Maybe that was the beginning of the end...

I rode in a Livestrong ride in Austin and rode with him for about 30sec. I did not speak with the man.

I rode two days of RAGBRAI this year. Lance rode some other days of RAGBRAI this year. How many degrees is that?

I think just one. There must be plenty of riders who rode at least one day with you and one with Lance.

I was on a training ride earlier this summer, and I'm pretty sure Frankie Andreu flew past me. Does that count?
