there's a guy in ur club who normally rides 6 to 10 hours per day. He doesn't work and does serious long distance cycling. He rides a full carbon roubaix. he is looking at getting a new bike as well. He said he loves his roubaix for everything but crits (and tt's i guess). He said the roubaix is great for road races and fast club rides, but he wanted more aggressive geometry for crits. personally, i don't think it would make a big enough diference unless you are a very high level rider. as long as you are comfortable on your bike and in good shape you should be able to race well. Think about this. if you are more comfortable on this bike for long distances, you will be able to train more and do so more comfortably. i would think that at ametuer level racing that would be more useful than a race bike.

yeah, he's a bit of a gear junkie and i think he's just exagerating, but he has ridden it and i haven't, so i thought i would share anyways. It sounds like he might be buying into marketing hype a little bit

I'll let you know Monday. I have a full carbon Roubaix I'm racing in two crits this weekend.

I've been shopping around for a new road bike that I'm going to buy in June. I'd finally decided on the Roubaix Pro, so I appreciate the articles. Too bad I still have to wait until June. :(

Personally, I'd wait until the new E5 frame with carbon stays and zertz inserts comes out to the general buying public. This frame is going to find it's way into my garage for sure!

"It will be worth the wait - you will love it!"
What he said! I love mine. |
