Great ride today...and no worries about numbers

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great ride today...and no worries about numbers

I did about 120 km ride today. It was great I was not rushed, worried about the numbers or pace. I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery. I did a lot of farm country, it was beautiful. This ride reminded me what I truly love about our sport. Sorry no pics as I forgot my phone. I had been getting to caught up in the times/pace for the last few rides, today I very much enjoyed simply peddling and the Rollins hills( with two very big climbs, bigger than anything I have done yet)
Great day!!
Thanks for listening

I remember...... the days before bicycle computers. Yes, there was a time when no one really knew the distances traveled without a map. No one knew the average speed. Or cadence, without a watch and counting the leg rpm.

It was a lot more social in those days, IMO. Now "gadget fever" has infected a large percentage of cyclists. Actually, it's gone crazy. GPS, smartphones, power meters, Strava, altimeters, etc.; some of the most cutting edge technologies used on one of the most elegantly simple machines ever produced, the bicycle.

Since most of the active participants in cycling grew up with PCs and high tech toys, they think that it's always been this way and that it's unthinkable to live without them.

It's not....

Yep, sometimes you just need to get out and smell the flowers. I've never ridden up in your area. Where were the climbs?
