Source for Italian Shimano OctAlink BB?

Looking to find a replacement BB-6500 70x109.5 Would settle for a BB-5500 in a pinch. Can only find English threads or Italian triples.

Seems like Shimano has abandoned these...

Check lbs order from a distributor

I see at least one italian BB-5500 up on a big auction site from a UK seller. I'm sure you can find more if you look around.

Cool!!!! I checked their site, but didn't see that. I was able buy enough fluff to get the free shipping.

Many thanks!

I see this thread is essentially done, but can't resist making a comment. I'm retired and doing a little consulting as it comes along. 50% of the answers I provide supposedly from my many years of experience can be found by just googling the question. It's like stealing, only legal. Same for OP's question here. All he had to do was google "Italian octalink bottom bracket" and a ton of sources fill up the screen. First three sources for anything you need for a bike no matter the age or how esoteric: Amazon, ebay, and/or Google. What is so hard?

thinktubes 09-14-13 08:59 AM

Yeah this is the kind of worthless opinions I hear all the time from "consultants".

As usual, it's a half-stroke with not a lot of effort or understanding. Plenty of hits show up on Google, but if you had bothered to look, you'd find that the part is not in stock, incorrectly listed, or the wrong length.

Do us all a favor, and stay retired.

I don't know about all that. The one you ended up with was found by Google. And this one is a little better than you asked for, but still fills the bill: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-Dura...-/300965824801

Also found on Google.

As far as my retirement is concerned, I think your just jealous.

I asked specifically for info locating a BB-6500 or BB-5500. Why are you sending me a link to a Dura Ace part? That's not what I'm looking for. You found nothing.

Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and send me a link to an Italian thread 70x109 B-5500 or BB-6500?

Again, a big thanks to the all the non-consultants for their useful replies.

None of those are what he asked for.
What's the point of this thread continuing?

Fail - You must be a consultant too.

What part of Italian thread 70x109 B-5500 or BB-6500 are you having trouble understanding?

Everything you linked to is longer than 109. And as stated, Dura Ace is not what I'm looking for.

Heck if I know. I was done and said "thanks".

The point is these are not easy to find and not readily available, contrary to what the "consultants" may "think".

Hopefully, the goods will be delivered and we'll end up with a bunch of useful links.

Now that the OP has a solution for his inquiry, I'm locking the tread.
