Buying apparel through Backcountry/CC?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Buying apparel through Backcountry/CC?

I'm looking to buy some jerseys through them but don't know if the sizing will work for me. They offer a no question s asked refund policy if it doesn't work out for you if you return the items in new condition. Does anyone know if they still accept returns if the item was worn (but still in new condition) and without the tags attached?

Use their chat function and give them your order number. they will be able to figure it out for you. or get on the phone.. easier than asking people who don't work for them

I don't work for them but have bought from them many times. I would still ask but I'm sure they will take it back. They usually ask that if it doesn't fit return it in the same package they sent it in. If you order it and it doesn't fit then you have no need to rip off the tags and wear it really.

thanks. I was thinking of apparel such as baselayers and other cooler weather clothing that I wasn't really sure if they would feel right until after you've gotten a chance to test them out on a few rides.

they changed their policy- if it's not new/unused I believe they offer you credit within a certain period of time. BUT, be careful, they don't always have a large stock of all sizes and if you need a different one, you're out of luck. From their site:

Not stoked on your gear? Looking to return it or make an exchange? No problem. If your new and unused gear just doesn’t fit your needs, we will issue you a full refund. If your gear fails, at anytime, we will also issue you a full credit. No questions asked.
• You can return your new purchase at anytime after purchase
o Products must be in the condition you received them in and the original box and/or packaging
• We do accept used gear – as long as it is received within 90 days of purchase date – and we will issue a credit for full purchase price
If you’d like to exchange your product for something else, the best thing to do is to return your item and place a new order at the same time. Placing the new order now just ensures that you’ll get it quickly, and that it won’t go out of stock. If the item returned is in the condition you received it in and with the original box and/or packaging, then you'll get a full refund. If the item is used, then you'll receive store credit. Don’t worry, you’ll get your refund or credit as soon as our Returns Department receives your original package.

Main issue I have is that you pay for return shipping, so even with the return policy you're out a few bucks.

they must have changed their policy. I have never paid return shipping. I always open the item and try it on, if it fits I hang it in the closet, if not I put it back in the package and use the return labels they provide and ship it back for free. same thing with Voler.

you are paying return shipping-- if you use their label they deduct 6.99 from the refund. It is a good deal if you order some heavy stuff. One time I ordered about 7 pairs of shoes to try on. Kept the pair that fit best and sent the rest back- for 6.99 it was less than the gas it would cost to go to the different bike shops to try them on.

If you have worn it on a few rides and sweated in it, then you own it.

So what? Is a few bucks for shipping worth the convenience and lower price of buying online?

Yes and no. Since I can't try on items and the sizing charts are hit or miss, I average about a 20% return rate. Effectively, it makes things cost more than think, neglecting the major advantage of lower price.

I LOL'd when they had the NQA lifetime returns. They took it out I think after 2-3 weeks. I imagined people buying the top of the line bikes for an event then exchanging it for a new bike.

I had a set of TIME iClic 2s fail after 3 months or so. I bought them on Chainlove, and CC replaced them with a new set of Time xpresso 4s. NQA. Shipping paid both ways.

They had that policy for years. FYI, it still applies to anything people bought before they changed the policy.
