'13 Orbea Orca
Well got back into the carbon realm again after not having one for years. So far on the inaugural ride.............nice. Was able to obtain a 41 mph down grade speed where as in the past was only able to get the Aqua up to around 38-39 same stretch.
Will obviously need to update this post later when more miles are under the bike. I do like the SRAM Rival which I have always had Shimano. Takes just a tad to get use to. But overall not a bad ride. |
13' Orbea Orca
A 13 foot bike is a huge bike! I didn't know they made them that big.
If you ride a 13 foot bike, you must be gigantic! On the other hand, maybe you mean '13 Orbea Orca? That's an entirely different thing! Carry on. :D |
Love mine more and more each time I ride it. Mine is a 57cm, though, rather than 13'. You must have really long legs!
|
Typo.....
Changed to read..............'13 Mine is the 57cm as well. Had a little of a time setting up the FD. Still just a tad rubbing on certain gears but overall running nice after it's 10.3 mile first run on lunch hour! |
Glad to hear that. I hope once I get it with some miles under the tires I can do a final adjust and see where things are. Been reading up on the hate for a BB30 system. How many miles you logged and how are you liking that BB30 system on this bike IANative?

I have about 500 miles on it now, in its bone stock configuration. Will continue to ride it as such until my hunting season/cold weather training regimen starts next month. My biggest/only complaint about the stock config is the Orbea saddle... I pretty much hate it. Maybe I'm spoiled by the Spesh saddles on my other bikes, idk. I'm pleasantly pleased w/ the facory Vittoria tires on the Orca... much better/grippy than the factory Spesh tires that came on my Roubaix. GP4000s made a huge improvement on the Roubaix, so I'm expecting a comparable improvement on the Orca. I'm faster on the Orca than on my Roubaix, but that's likely due to the more aggressive/aero position on the Orca, as the two bikes weigh pretty much the same.
I've picked up a set of new Fulcrum Racing 5's which I'll use to swap out the factory Orbea 28's, plus the GP4000s. And I'll likely be asking Mrs. IANative for a new Spesh saddle (Romin, Toupe?) for Christmas. But all in all, I couldn't be more pleased with my decision to buy the Orca BRV. Fast and comfy. |
Fixed the thread title typo

Here is my setup purely stock minus the Spinergy Stealth PBO wheels and Conti 4000S tires and K-Edge chain guard.

Here's a very un-exciting pic of mine:

Your mileage may vary with BB30

I know many local cyclists that are like me and ride BB30 equipped bikes year round without issue, but I have encountered other local riders that have replaced their bearings multiple times. I may be mistaken, so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe the majority of the people I encounter that have had to replace their bearings are running ceramic bearings. I love my Orca by the way...it seems to strike the perfect balance between ride quality and stiffness for me and the geometry and handling fit my preferences better than anything else I have been on. Hope you continue to enjoy yours for many miles to come. |

I own two bikes with BB30....A 2010 Cannondale Supersix Hi-Mod and a 2012 Orbea Orca Bronze and have not had any trouble with either. The Cannondale has approx. 8,000 miles without a problem and I ride it rain or shine year round. I just built the Orca up a few months ago, so I only have about 1,500 miles on it.

Feels great and with it's aggressive stance over my Aqua it is a tad bit faster on average and really soaks up the road well. Like it so far! |
