I always thought they were supposed to be painted the color of your frame and just mounted on it for decoration. I'm not using a frame pump, I'm using a really old Silca track floor pump. It just keeps on working!

Sure, different story altogether. You might want to think about attaching a more modern locking pump head, however. That is easily done, and might make things easier.

It's all fixed now, still don't know exactly what it was, but no problems anymore. Still going to check out more of the valve though.
