Any upper Midwest riders get out in the melting snow this weekend?
Looks like around here anyway maybe some of you got a chance to get outside and ride Sat.? Lots of melting and around 50 in the Milwaukee area. I'm fighting back a cold for a few days now so I passed on the chance.
Sunday however, unless this head cold gets worse, the heck with it. Forecast says breezy, but 50 or so with sunshine. I've set up a high noon outside ride with a brother-in-law who says he wants to try to bike more this year. He said it in front of me, so I took him up on it! Only problem is my route is still snow covered on the path portions. We'll have to drive somewhere and unload from there.
How many of you guys do that? When I practice on the hilly crit course I use (which we may do on Sunday since I know it will be snow-free at least) I have to drive 12 miles to the start. I hate that! I love just being able to ride right out of my driveway. But this time of year you take what you can get, right?

Snow's no problem, it's the damn ice coupled with road salt that bothers me (not to mention the wind chill!)

Here in Mad-town... we're gonna give it go sunday. My gal and I have new road bikes that have been chilling their wheels on the back porch these last 3 weeks. She and I both are new to clipless, so says she wants to tool around the cemetary across the street to get the hand of her SPD's (I nabbed some Frogs), but we may try the Bike path ( Nine Springs E-way) . Can't wait!

I'm going. It'll still be under 40 so I'll gear up for the cold. Winter is just waaaaay too long. Have a tight schedule on Sunday, so I have to go out early before it warms up, brrrrrr!

I was able to get out for about an hour this afternoon. Road my MTB as I typically park the road bike until the salt is off the roads. Didn't set any speed records but it sure felt good to ride outside. Will try again tomorrow.

I'm not too far south of you, in Lake County, Il. I've been riding, so long as it's above 30. Right now, though, I'm in Cleveland, and my bike is in the shop, back in IL, getting tuned up. I'm hoping for some good stuff, next week...

Still cross-country skiing here.
First race is in three weeks, and I've been on the road....let me see....twice?

Live in Ohio, would love to get out today, sunny not too cold, but the kind of wind you can hear inside the house. I will probably get my bike time in the garage. UGHHH! Did buy a new Spinervals dvd called Tough Love, it is three hours long.... I hate Troy!

I did about 20 miles yesterday on the chicago lakefront path. There was snow only on the edges plus piles of salt and goose stuff. High was about 44F .It was nice once the sun came out.Monday i rode 8 miles on the forest preserve bicycle trail with snow still on the path. My sort of fixed(I cannot pedal backwards or the cog will unthread)wheel came through though i did not slip.

Hey, nice to see all the riders in the Milwaukee/Chicago area knocking the dust off this weekend. Some time come summer we should get together for a BF ride/hangout.
Winds 25 mph out there but sunny and heading over 50 today. Despite being stuffed up from this head cold I'm going for it out there about two hours from now. I'll have to pull for my brother in law in this wind, but heck....we'll be outside!
Snow and 30's the forescast for the week. Crap.

Was nice. Did get out. Lotsa people saying it was their first good ride.
Me and the gal managed about 15 miles in and around the city on the path system. wet roads, some head winds, but all around good time. Beats the hell outta the trainer!

Took my bro-in-law out this afternoon. We did 16 miles with some decent climbs. Had to go nice and slow to pace him, but I was happy to be riding outside! Man, were there the people out on bikes today. I think I'm getting him hooked. He was going to go home, clean off his Navigator 400 and lost the kickstand and the spring saddle. Says he wants to try to ride more with me this season. Great!

You should have come down to UW Parkside in Kenosha. They had a crit there today - all levels and ages. Brutal stuff, but boy what a great day - 60 degrees with a strong headwind on the finishing/start straight. Not much fun to see the sandbaggers out there though - my legs are killing me

I live near the Dells. 30 miles on sunday. hit the clothing just right. couldn't finish the Birkie last Sat because of flue/chest problems. Didn't know if this would be a problem sunday but it was all good! Perfect ride, felt strong. Interesting to see the snow on OLN TV coverage of Paris/Nice (sp?) TT. I didn't think they started racing with snow on ground in europe.
