Currently high bidder
If I get it, it will be built cheaply using used parts and ridden for a few months until I can afford my next bike. My LBS has offered to build me a bike using a new TCR Advanced frameset and components from a 2012 TCR Advanced 0 in the smallest size that hasn't sold. Bike will have 10-speed di2 Ultegra components and will be substantially discounted.

Yes, I've heard that. I've also heard from a couple of knowledgeable people in the biz that the '14 version is an excellent wheelset, weighing around 170g more, with some of that weight in the hub, which would have little effect on spin up, and with better aerodynamics and stability than the '13. The new wheels feel good to me.

I seem to have some flex at times with the 2013 wheels on my SL3. Glad to read the new wheels are slightly stiffer.

the difference is going from what giant calls hard carbon faring to a soft lower quality (heavier) carbon.
as you can see, the spoke holes have been enlarged, plus when you press on the faring, it's very soft, almost plasticky feeling. The old pslr1 aero is much harder and lighter.
The 2013 decals are under the finish. The 2014 can be removed.

The added weight is not the hubs, as the dtswiss 240 are the same.

That's not correct. According to the tech folks at Giant, the '14 wheels were totally redesigned. The hub internals on the '14 wheels are DT350, which adds a bit of weight, but at the center. The aerodynamics were improved with a wider rim and a taller profile (the majority of the weight increase). The rim is now a two piece structure with the spokes attaching to the base rim for better braking and structural stability, needing less material on the sides. Giant claims that the '13 wheel is better in weight only, and that for aerodynamic performance and structural stability the '14 is a far better wheel.
Hope this helps.

On Another note. The original '13 version is the same design, the carbon faring has always been a faring, it was never used for structure. So the spokes have always been attach to the PSLR1 Rim. That is the reason they didn't change or find it necessary to change the moniker of the wheel. They are PSLR1 wheels with an Faring (aero).
I'll find out in the next few days as i'll have my LBS measure the wheels.
I also know the MSRP of the wheels have dropped from $1500 for the '13 to less then $1200 for the new model. Maybe that has to do with the hub change.

My info came from Giant Canada at the annual dealer meeting. To be honest, i'm not surprise that either one of them could be wrong.

Yes I don't use pslr1 aero. Plus my lbs gives credit on them if you don't want them.
my riding buddy has the same bike as you, he rides zipp 202's.

What wheels are you using? I was pleasantly surprised after reading a couple of reviews of the P-SLR1 Aero wheels. They were praised in both reviews.

I love that new giant color. To bad they didn't bring that to canada, I would have purchased that frame set. Just love white bikes.

My 2011 Defy 1, 6750 miles in the past 2+ years, including my first metric century (in 2012) and first MS150 (this year)... Just added the Ksyrium SSC's and Vredestein Tri-comps. Still working on the engine - not easy with an actual winter making an appearance here in the Ozarks.
