Just bought a Motobecane Vent Noir on CL for $400 cash

Ok well not just bought, but I got it last week. It is my second geared road bike. I also own an old Miyata (mostly Suntour parts) that was second-hand, and a cheap fixie from the internet that I beat up all summer but subsequently had tons of parts ripped off of it. I don't know exactly what year it is, but it appears to be either brand new or rarely used. It has the Ritchey package, Shimano Tiagra front derailleur and 105 rear derailleur. The headset is Cane Creek. The Continental tires have a lot of tread left on them. The pedals are dual-sided Shimano with SPD on one side and a platform on the other. I'm 6'2" and the bike is a 60cm. I rode it before I bought it and fits well. Just wanted to share my happiness. I bought it from a gentleman in a rich area and I could tell it clearly did not fit him as he was considerably shorter than I. Pics to follow. So far I have ridden it seventeen miles over two short rides and have nothing to complain about. I made some seat post adjustments and it feels great. :) :) :)

sounds like you did ok if its in near new condition.

If it has the semi sloping top tube it's a 2012 or newer. Since you said it has a Ritchey saddle then it's probably 2012 or newer.

I had the 2011 and that's the last year they made the straight top tubes. I sold mine (barely used as well) for $500.

The seat post, bars and stem are all Ritchey. The saddle is a Skye. I have a Terry Eliminator TFI saddle I may throw on there but I can't tell if it would really be a big improvement. The top tube appears pretty flat.

it might be a 2011 then, but that's in mint condition.

enjoy riding it and use all the gears.

Oh I'm no stranger to gears! I love 'email all, but I also like the single speed thang because of the beauty of simplicity. To be honest, I don't use the middle chainring very often. In the future I'm going to swap out the heavy ass FSA crank, only for the reason that I like to tinker. The bike is soo fast. I dig it.
