In central Kansas we might not have a lot of hills to ride but, we get out in the country and do 10 miles dead into a wind blowing 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph. When you ride a box you get to deal with crosswinds on half of the ride as well.

My normal commute is around 50-60 feet per mile, 500-900 total each way depending on the route I take (about 30 miles round trip).
Up in Memphis proper I can go 40+ miles and barely get over 600 feet of climbing. |

Some parts of Florida aren't as flat as most people think. Certainly not nearly the elevation that some of you lucky peeps have every day, but still a nice workout. Saturday's 55 mile ride had 3,510 ft of elevation, while Sundays 50 mile ride only had 272 ft.

30 or 40 feet. Maybe.

The last metric I rode (64.5 miles) was just at 2000ft of climbing. My usual 25 mile loop has right around 1200 ft of climbing. I'm a fat boy, so hills suck.
