Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bought a Roubaix today!

Woot woot!

Ordered a Roubaix Expert from my LBS today..., that's the full Ultegra model with the SL4 10r frame (it's the cheapest 10r model).

https://m.specialized.com/us/en/bikes...aix-sl4-expert

I'm not a fan of matte black bikes; they seem like they are saying "look at me! I'm carbon!" so I got the silver version, which I know doesn't float some boats around here, but I like it:

I'm told late January.... so it's a ways out.

I'm with you on the black bikes. Nice choice! Be sure to post up when you pick it up.

I was waiting for the money to firm up. I'm just a working man- $3800 is no small thing for a cash, hobby-oriented purchase.

(Plus I had to do all my OCD research and hand-wringing.... lol)

Very nice! I really like the silver look. Would love to hear your impression after you put some miles on it. I have been eyeing a Roubaix for a couple months, but since I think it will be at least a year till I can come up with the cash and convince my wife. I made the mistake of test riding one...my old aluminum bike just isn't the same.

Nah..... knowing what I knew from that thread, I just said I would like to order this bike; it retails for $3800, and I'd like it for $3600. I'm not busting chops on a thin-margin item.

I would have gone that way, maybe, but I didn't want a red bike.

Don't know why January... that's what they said. It doesn't really matter anyway; the rains will be here soon and I'll be skiing!

Did you see a 61cm there? I'm interested in test riding one.

Not sure, I wasn't looking that hard. You can call and they can probably look at all of the Incycle locations to see if they have one in stock.

Ha! Point. So painfully true.

Plus the stiff bastid will probably rattle my teeth like an AL bike.

I picked up an 2013 Expert Roubaix Disc a few weeks ago for 2700 after having the LBS call the CA warehouse to see what Roubaix was on closeout. In Hawaii where they sell above retail, so very happy.

Initial impressions:

As advertised, it is a very comfy bike for my commute, 16 miles one way and never sore, etc.
Does a great job of taming our crappy roads.
Super light after my C-Dale cx disc from 10 years ago.
Murdered out paint with nice red stripes is good combo.

The bad:
2013 Ultegra group shifts poorly compared to my 10 year old Ultegra.
Seems to be a common complaint. New 6800 Ultegra is supposed to be fine.

I hope yours has the 6800. Happy riding. Enjoy.
