Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good Used Bike Deal for Me??

How is this bike?

I am looking for a road bike, hope to get into it, but never know until I try.

How does this bike look. I am 6' 3" for around $500 from someone local?

Carbon (and aluminum) frame GIANT 99 cfr 3 road/racing bike. Near perfect condition Has about 100 miles on odo, includes clip-in pedals and size 10.5 shoes in the price. I'm not using it ever because I ride my mountain bike and i need the money. Larger frame size 61. (I'm 5.10 but it was slightly big for my reach)

Component Highlights: Campagnolo Stratos group (170 mm crankarms), Shimano Cartridge bottom bracket, Suntour alloy headset, San Marco Concor-Light saddle, Kalloy alloy seat post, Look PM Sport clipless pedals, Campagnolo Omnicron rims, 14 gauge stainless spokes, TIG welded Chrome-Moly 10.5 cm stem, TTT Podium Ergo 40 cm alloy bars. (Size 61)

First thing that pops out at me is 170 mm cranks. At 6' 3" you're going to want much longer cranks. So that would need to be your first upgrade. 40 cm bars are going to be awfully small for you, unless you've got the shoulders of a 15 year old girl. Other than that, it's okay. You can probably find something better actually.

I don't know anything about the bike, but for $500, seems hard to go wrong. Just make sure that the size difference won't make for an uncomfortable ride.
