Nobody thought to comment on their $12,000 blue basketball?
They made two of them! The high price is due to the extreme quality of the leather and the craftsmanship.
Obviously, these things are not aimed at any market that includes any of us (apparently) but 11k for that bike is a lot closer to reasonable than 12k for a damn ball.

Maybe I am missing something here but a 24 lb. beach cruising look alike bike made of carbon fiber because I assume filter was a typo for $11K**********? Yeah, that will sell just great! I am seriously not trying to be a smartass here but are they serious about the price at $11k for a bike that at most should be $600 if really made of carbon!

I really like the hipster fixies. The newer ones are really colourful. I saw an all white frame with a bianchi green wheel. very nice. very nice indeed.

Still means nothing. But I see things differently I guess. Hey, if the posers want a $11k beach comber then by all means pony up and spend that Jack! I am all for stupid people departing with their money.

Someone can barely procure a Taiwanese, open mold, direct-to-consumer CF frame for $600, and you think that an entire bike, with a frame that's low volume and made in France by a company that weaves their own CF, should squeak in at that price? Yes, you do see things differently, but looking through ignorance-tinted glasses is nothing to be proud of.

I just can't get over the fact they can produce a lighter bike for that kind of money, disc brake and cruiser bars and street wheels and tires and all. Under 18 lbs is what what I would expect. But I guess those who buy this bike aren't weight weenies. The badge and all that supple leather matter more.

There are plenty of people on here who are not "rich" that can justify buying a bike that is, perhaps in someone else's eyes, more than they "need".
Who is to judge how people spend their money? This is not Soviet Russia is it? No, it's not Soviet Russia.

For all the terrorists in the thread who hate freedom, you're grandpa Karl Marx will be rolling in his grave when he gets a load of the $17,000 Chanel Bike https://www.purseblog.com/chanel-bags...l-bicycle.html or the Gucci "hipster" bike: https://www.stylehive.com/bookmark/gucci-luggage-583565
But all of this pales into comparison to the person who bought the Damien Hirst Trek for $500,000:

Looking elsewhere, I've gotta say that, although I'd never dream of spending the money on it, these are pretty cool. It looks as if the rear fender is not only CF, but is also a part of the frame. I like the Gates belt drive, too.

How many frames do you think that these guys are pumping out? Do you know how much molds cost? If they were doing Trek numbers, sure, the cost of individual frames would be less as they amortize the cost of the molds and tooling over larger numbers, but that's not going to happen here; exclusivity has a real price, here - it's not just cachet.

I find this amusing...as I said in another thread about this bike...you do realize a Hermes handbag runs around $12,000? Sorry to say folks, but there is a market for luxury goods with brand names.
Sure it might be extravagant to us but to others, dropping $11k on a bike is no different than us picking up a bikes direct bike for $300.

It's not what I would do if I had the spare change.
I'd get a nice road bike with Gruber assist. I'd take time off and go cross-country on it. No tents for me. I'd go credit card touring.
But each to his own.

Obviously not. When the cost of developing a mold and a production process is tens of thousands of dollars (per model, per size), the production volume is a big factor of the final price.

They're not stupid, they just have a huge cache of disposable assets, and it's something difficult for us working slobs to wrap our brains around.
Money is no object for the filthy rich.

I don't buy it either. I'm a cost accountant at a large aerospace manufacturer. Even at hundreds of thousands of dollars per mold and a production run of less than a thousand there is no way to justify the markup of this bike to the molds alone. The profit margin is likely massive on these.
