Love the steel frames, always have (miss my old Derosa), but dang they look gawky in the larger sizes (just like carbon does in the smaller ones

Great Pic. I used to live near the PCH out of Laguna but never got to ride it sigh

@warpdrive, love the bike. Curious, what is your height and did you have to change out your stem or is that stock?

My newest Trek. A Domane 2.3. Prettiest bike I've ever owned. Only 200 miles so far. Owned the bike for a month. Totally stock other than upgrading the tires to Armadillo's. I also own a Crossrop for about two months that is my commuter.
I test rode a Madone followed by the Domane and just loved the ride quality of the Domane. The geometry also fit my older body and soar neck better. Had the stem flipped to help the my neck.
I've never heard of this "hate" for Trek bikes. Tell you what, I love mine.

Here's the third Trek in my family, it's my GFs Trek 1000. It's mid-rebuild here, I'm almost done installing 8 speed triple for her, because the 9 speed double didn't have enough "easy" gears for her (granted, it was running 53/42 up front and she's not a serious cyclist...)
I've also put on a set of Nitto randonneur bars because she has wrist problems and can't always reach around the shifters to shift; my thought is that the upswing in the randonneur bars will put the levers out more so that she won't have to push inwards as far to shift. Plus she likes the thumb-paddles on the Sora shifters.

(Apologies again for the Instagram filtered shot.)

Yes, that is a giant spider on top of the handlebars. Why do you ask?

Thanks, the paint actually fades to purple on the chain/seatstays. Not a great photo.

Actually that's a Hobbson Pro saddle. I've been riding road bikes off and on for 24 years and in all that time I hadn't found a seat that didn't cause numbness or some times extreme pain. One night after a particularly painful ride three months ago (took a week to recover) I decided I had to find a comfortable seat or quite riding. Well, I wasn't about to quit riding so I stated doing some searching on the web and come across this seat. It's the best thing I've done to help the enjoyment of riding. It takes a bit of time to get used to but it's so much more comfortable that I no longer worry about a soar bum or numbness. The seat has two separate pads that support the sit-bones with no long nose to interrupt blood flow or pinched nerves. The pads rotate with you legs to help eliminate pressure on the back of the leg. It's a little more difficult to peddle while reaching for the water bottle or the computer because you don't have the support of the nose of a standard seat, but since I'm more concerned with endurance, touring and commuting rather than racing, I just quit peddling when I need to take a hand off of the bar.
I was little concerned about spending $60 to experiment on saddles, but it turned out to be money well spent. I ordered the seat through Amazon. Here's the link:

Serious question here. Is it coincidental that Domane is an anagram for Madone or was that decision made on purpose?

I bought the first one because of the beauty of the frame and the colour, bought additionally a carbon wheelset (HED3)
and the smallest tires (18mm with 10 bar) and now it feels that this bike is an e-bike, especially with backwind.
All it needs is a road, which is in a very good condition, `cause this frame does not forgive the smallest pothole,
you might even feel, if you roll over a toothpick!
Cordially regards from Vienna,
Hans
