What are the tires the pros are using?

Anyone know what the yellow walled tires are the pros seem to be trending towards?

The Fred in me wants to copy these but I realize they are tublulars.. is there a clincher equivalent?

The part of the pro life I want to copy is having a dude drive around behind me in a car with spare bikes and extra carbon wheels, not to mention snacks, bandaids and the chance to hang on to the car when I get a little tired.

Oh, and not having to carry a lick of support gear in my own jersey would be nice too.

Pros can get away with using tires that are geared toward speed, whereas most mortals would find them impractical for every day riding and that's in addition to the tubular/clincher issue. If guys that light are flatting due to objects and related issues, just imagine the issues everyone else would have.

These? Seems like a good deal but I guess they are for racing only with no puncture protection..

No clue, you asked for a similar clincher. The SC's are the clincher version of the exact same tire.

To get paid to ride bikes whenever you want is pretty slick too!
Not.to mention all the free swag the pros get, to promote.

I'd like a can of that magic spray. The 'mechanic in a bottle' stuff. No way that's WD 40.

Or whatever was in L.A.' s lunchbag in his fridge, & an empty coke can to discard any evidence...

Whatever is given to them for FREE.......you see they use things that their sponsors give them for FREE........they ride on whatever is FREE! You get the idea.

They don't get paid to ride "Whenever they want". It's there job and they have to ride almost every day, hours and hours a day and basically are expected to spend 24/7 eating, sleeping, exercising and riding to be able to perform their best

So you want the fun and perks without the work. ;)

It's the American way these days.

Nothing is free.

I once got paid, but I did not ride a bike whenever I wanted. I rode whenever the employer wanted. Regardless of weather conditions.

Like so many things, it looks like a blast. I guarantee you, you rapidly reach a point where you do not even want to say the word bike.

I know people who have gone long distance touring. And after a few days of nothing but riding say, "I have no idea how professional can do this day after day."

And riding ain't racing.

Not if it doesn't work well. They only get paid if they perform. If whatever it is hinders performance, they won't use it. They sometimes go so far as to use what they want, obscure the original markings and relabel it with their sponsor's markings.

Still better than almost any job I've worked. I wouldn't complain, & I'd be in shape year round.
I ride in any condition anyways(5-6 days a week), it'd be nice to live/ride in Europe year round, & ride on top notch gear whenever you do it.

While I might not log as many miles/kms, it would be nice to get paid for it, or even just get free gear.

By getting paid I don't mean driving a pedicab, or being a courier. ;)
(Joke in general, not aimed @ the above members.)

Get good enough....if you have talent, and can clearly demonstrate it, who knows?

But it's all about results. Not how hard you tried.

The biggest lesson I learned when I was a kid and racing: There are no excuses.

Oops I forgot to post the link to the tires I was looking at which is why that post was a little confusing. My bad.
