Tea...good for your ride.
When I ride, I prefer drinking green tea in one of my bottles. I add a some honey and a bit of salt for electrolyte.
Since you Americans won't listen to anyone who is not American, here is one of your own. He is my favourite vlogger. |
I take tea and honey on some of my rides. I use black tea though.

If we have dual US/UK citizenship, who should we listen to ?
|
Did someone say something?

If you're looking at green tea you might consider Matcha tea.
|
I'll have green tea at home.
I often use some variety of Rooibos on cold mornings in an insulated bottle. |

I don't do coffee, but I do tea!
I played "soccer" for close to 15 years, but still refer to it as football.(Yes we use our feet to touch the ball) Does it have anything to do with living in a former British Colony? ;) We still have "British" in our provinces name. |
So you just put hot tea in your bottle?

I do enjoy a good tea. Never sipped one on a ride though.
I just rode the rollers. Been doing 20-30 minutes a day to build and maintain good form and technique. Jumped on the bike after finishing my morning coffee. Riding right after a coffee is awesome. I think I would explode if I drank coffee ON the bike though. |
Tea while cycling? would you Like some crumpets with that? Speaking for Americans here; we like water, Gatorade, energy drinks, muscle milk, and stuff like that. Not stinking tea. Can you say Boston tea party? That's what we think of tea.

This past summer I was on a 65ish mile ride on a hot -- 92F/33C -- sunny and humid day. Stopped at a farmers market. One of the vendors had ice cold fresh mint tea in some goofy crafty containers. I asked if he'd just fill my water bottle. He charged me all of 50 cents ... gave him a $1. Tasted great for the rest of the ride even once it had warmed up a bit.

If you're British, why not milky coffee?
|
Tea = hot water, very lightly flavored. If I want water, I just drink water.
I have actually enjoyed tea 2 or 3 times in my life though. I went to this coffee shop everyone loves. The coffee tasted like flavored water. i honestly thought it was tea. It was kind of fruity flavored as well (all from the coffee beans). Never went back. People just like it because they are hipsters and it isn't evil corporate Starbucks, nevermind that Starbucks coffee is delicious. |
btw, I watched that video and it's strange that someone who is so into green tea is buying tea bags. It's typically the crappiest tea there is... the garbage they couldn't sell loose as you'd see that it was all stems and burnt leaves.

In the crazy '60's, there was an English TT guy that would drink a cup of tea and smoke a cigarette before embarking on a 24 hr TT. Yeah, 24 hour Time Trial. These TT's would start at 4 am or some crazy hour. He commented the cigarette got his heart pumping before his start time. Sort of a warm up for the 24 hours,400 plus miles that lay ahead.

that guy makes me laugh. he claims to give healthy eating advice and cooks everything in tons of butter and smothered in cheese, "American cheese" no less. his killer fried egg sandwich is the funniest. |
