Riding in the St Augustine area?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Riding in the St Augustine area?

I'll be staying in St Augustine on the weekend of Dec 13-15. I would like to do a Club Ride (B or B+) early on Saturday or Sunday morning.
Is there any clubs in the area?
If not, can anyone recommend a good ride of about 30-40 miles I can do solo?

If I do a Club Ride I'll bring my road bike, else the tri bike.

I'm not in that area, but I've found some good routes by using mapmyride, ridewithgps, garmin maps, etc. Or call a few of the local bike shops in the area.

Two saturday rides out of st Augustine:

"Saturday, 7:30 AM, A++/A 20-60 miles

St. Augustine. Starts at Cobblestone Plaza on 312, west of US-1. This is a race pace ride 25-30 mph with race tactics involved. Contact: Ken Hinkle for more information 904-824-2422 or look for updates on St. Augustine Cycling Facebook page
"

Saturday 9:00 AM A/B 35-48 miles & A/B/C/S 17-29 miles on 3rd Saturday of month

St. Augustine. Meet at Publix parking lot in Vilano Beach. Cyclists of all abilities are welcome with a guaranteed 35 mile B pace ride as well as a 48 mile option. On 3rd Saturday of month ride starts at St. Augustine-Palatka Trail on Vermont Blvd. 1/2 mile NW of FL207. Ride the Trail for 17 miles or do a 29 mile loop. No one who joins the ride will be dropped. Ride Leaders: Mark Atkins 904-217-4399 cell 973-219-1092 and Penni Crews 501-5037.THIS RIDE COUNTS FOR CLUB POINTS AND MILEAGE.

If you want to ride on your own, I'd go North across the Vilano Bridge, then up A1A. There's bike lane all the way to Ponte Vedra along the ocean, and a good portion of the ride is through undeveloped ocean front.

There are option going south as well (look at the Coast to Swamp ride on NFBC) Also, you can go inland toward World Golf Village.

We're riding to St Augustine from Jax that Saturday, and back Sunday. We'll be the people on an Orange and Yellow tandem.

MXL, thanks for the leads. The first group is a bit out of my class, and the other, while perfect, is a bit late in the day. I hope to be back by 9. But the suggested bike routes sound great. I'll check out Ponte Vedra. There will probably be winds out of the north, so that will give me a tail wind back. Sounds like the Tri bike is up for this one. I'd bring the Lambo Tandem, but Mrs T seems to be over that. :^( Time to trade her in? Nah. After 40 years, I've kinda grown fond of her...

You should be able to find several good rides with these great groups. I recommend all of them.

I've gone for a few rides in that area. I used the local club's ride maps to come up with some safe/interesting routes to do. I never tried to join any of their groups though. A bunch of their routes are here. There are some in the St. Augustine area.
