Best Brake Pads?
I currently have the ultegra 6800 wheelset/brakes and ever since i got them, after the first day of use, whenever i would brake the pads would be pretty loud. I checked it to make sure there was nothing stuck in them and after a few rides i decided to take them out. I noticed there was little chunks of metal stuck inside the pads. Was this due to the fact that the wheelsets were new? Or whats up here? I'm going to throw these out and just order some new brake pads.
Which pads would you recommend? I used the sram pads for a long time and they worked out pretty good but im looking to try new ones |
New shimano pads are good to me, New compound, decent wet considering its cheap.

Kool Stop Salmon pads. They come as pads only or pads and holders, they last a very long time.

Pair (2) Kool Stop Dura-Type Brake Pads - DRY Conditions Road SRAM/SHIMANO - BLACK

the salon pads say for "wet" conditions but they are an all conditions pad. I love them. If you don't want the salmon option they make a dual compound that is a mix of the black/salmon.

Cheers |
+1 Kool stop salmon on both my bikes. I think I remember reading the the compound on the dry-conditions black pads might be slightly harder, so they might last a little longer.

The alu embedded in the pad is normal for new rims. I like coolstop black and black prince for carbon but neither are the best in the wet.

I use SwissStop and love them. But to each their own that is the variety and spice of life!
