Annual PISSING CONTEST: Your mileage for 2013

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

From Strava:

Distance - 2691.5 miles
Time - 165 hours
Elevation - 99,170
Rides - 183

i didn't get started until April and my early rides were shorter commutes. There is no reason, barring injury, that I shouldn't easily eclipse these totals in 2014.

Only 3825 miles this year. The weather discouraged my early-season riding more than it should have. Here's to 2014!

I couldn't start riding until mid April. Still:

road miles - 4400

elevation gained - no idea, but starting in July my vertical feet/mile went up considerably

additionally - I achieved a KOM in early September, on a 1.2 mile, 363 feet climbing segment. There are 11 other names on the leader board, and the results are not filtered by age. I was 3 weeks shy of my 58th birthday at the time. My KOM still stands as of today.

This is a pissing contest, RIGHT??

About 4,500 mi with a few major setbacks and a good 5-6mo off the bike. 10k complications-free miles and entering a race are two of my 2014 goals.

I don't know how far I rode this year ... I did keep track on bikejournal, but I'd have to go look up the total distance to find out what the end result was.

Cycling kind of took a back seat this year ... but I did have a few cycling highlights which I talk about here:

Damn, it really IS flat in florida! I don't think I could get under 20,000 ft in 1500 miles if I rode the flattest routes possible.

I have 13,493 miles so far, but haven't uploaded today's ride yet.

I'm proud of the total, but it's down from last year.
