My recorded numbers were 3,530 and 177,480 feet. But that doesn't include 2 or 3 rides where I forgot to start the Garmin ( it'll happily show me following the route on the map, but never remind me to hit start), and a couple where I didn't recharge after the previous rides. Oh well, close enough.
~~~~~~~
Here's the first 125 posts that mentioned their miles (or km*.62) and their feet (or meters*3.28). Reports of miles without feet are on the X axis.
I did this pretty quickly, so there may be a couple of bad data points.
There's more riders over 10,000 miles than I expected.
About 50 feet per mile over the whole season seems quite common. That's the 45 degree diagonal line from the 0,0 point. But the riders over 4,000 miles tend to be above that line, more like 60+ feet per mile.
The flattest territory award goes to fmy906, with 3,052 miles and 8,068 feet. Wow, 2.64 feet per mile!
About 5,000 miles. I say about because it includes a fudge factor for times I rode without the Garmin, or the Garmin was dead, or I didn't upload for training peaks.
2 biggest days were Dirty Kanza, 225 miles, and Cross Florida 168 miles.
This thread made me go back and look at data. I was surprised to see that my mileage was down for the year, even though I put in some long miles getting ready for DK first half of the year.
My Excel tracker says I did 3400 miles this year. That sounds about right. Have no idea about elevation gain since I don't track that, but I did 6000' on my last ride for the year up Mt. Haleakala this week. That is by far the most climbing I've ever done. I only wish I had a little bit more in my legs to finish.
7379 miles for 2013. Nearly 3 months off the bike due to health issues. Hope to be back over 10,000 miles in 2014.
Really really awesome to read how many thousands of miles you rode, to have the discipline to go out and do it.
One of my goals is to join a cycling club, but right now it's winter and swamped in snow and salt.
I believe I did around 700 miles since getting the bike. Biking to work everyday and weekend rides. Might be a little under. Wish could do more, but I don't enjoy riding in slushy snow or really cold dank weather, just gets under your skin and make you feel awful.
Around 3500-4000 miles, mostly May-September. Best month was June which was probably around 1300 miles. Best ride was around 122 miles. About 99% of it was on my Marin Muirwoods 29er. Did 46 or so miles on a GT Tachyon.
Provided the weather is decent, I typically ride my Trek Domane; when it's wet or really cold I'll opt for my fixed gear rain bike (Surly Steamroller with full fenders).
If I ride straight to & from work, my round trip is 40 miles. However, all of last year, I only rode straight to work 11 times. As commuting is the vast majority of my riding, I take full advantage and will typically get in 40-60 miles on the way to work (I'm on the bike by around 4:45am) and then ride straight home after work. This way I don't interfere with family time too much (two young kids at home) - maximizing time on the bike and time with the family.
Provided the weather is decent, I typically ride my Trek Domane; when it's wet or really cold I'll opt for my fixed gear rain bike (Surly Steamroller with full fenders).
RT's O-Fish-L 2013 Mileage & Weight log has me at
8412 miles thru Dec4 (familial obligations meant zero mi for rest of Dec)
it took all of that to lose 8 lbs... hoping to drop another 6 this year
vertical - a lowball guess would be between 370,000 & 400,000, based on what my low avg for a wk of riding known routes are. prolly more...
I did get a little ice time during Dec... even though it wasn;t with a stick and in kit...
now working harder on my shoulder rehab so I can again mix it up with the young guys in the local bier leagues
back in CA, as of yesterday and hoping to start my riding 2day - YEAH!
1,001.16 miles... a 274% increase over the previous year (my first 'year' back cycling since I was 15!
Looking to double that or more this year. off to an OK start for that so far.
7557 miles.
2013 Stats:
It's kinda funny looking at it, I got sick in the early part of the year, then again in October.
Got a power meter, then learned how to use it and started training properly in November.
Been riding a lot indoors lately so my avg speed and thus overall mileage has been sucking lately.
The only way to see much of the increase would be KJ output but calories is best I can get out of the Garmin connect report.
17,946 km. (11,151 miles). Not bad, but not great for something with no life, no wife, no strife and no kids....and no full-time job.
..(so I say every year) Ha.,
