Do not buy: 2013 Sugoi RS bibs

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do not buy: 2013 Sugoi RS bibs

I bought some 2013 sugoi RS bib knickers a few months ago, and the third time I went to put them on, the seam of the right leg just burst from the pressure of my foot going into it. I took it back to where I bought it from thinking this was a one-off issue, but in the process of looking for the same bibs to exchange, I found another pair that were hanging on the rack with a similar rip! Curiosity got the best of me and I checked ebay for the same bibs, it didn't take long to turn up two other pairs with similar ripped seams:

I have no clue how Sugoi can sell $160 bibs with such poor quality control. They really seem to be cutting their quality recently.

Why would you ever buy cheap $160 bib shorts anyway? Everybody knows that the aerodynamic Assos stuff adds 2 MPH average speed.

I've got 4 pairs of those bibs but all prior to 2013 model. Never had much problems with them. I've never paid that kind of money, always find them on sale.

I've got 3 pairs of shorts & 2 bibs over the past three years from Sugoi and love them. I picked them up new at a big swap meet a shop sells left overs at every year (very cheap) and have had nothing but success with them. I'll have to keep an eye out next time.

I have a pair of their bibs from 2012 and they are still going strong. Maybe they just had a bad batch or the ones in question are knockoffs (even though they were purchased at a store). Lots of counterfeit stuff floating around these days. You never know.Another possibility is the OP has some gnarly sharp toe nails and they cut the seam. You gotta trim those things once in a while. Just sayin.

UPDATE - I was checking out these bibs on Amazon to see what they are going for these days and noticed the one in the picture has a torn seam (look at the midpoint seam above the right leg). Don't know if I've ever seen a torn seam in an advertisement. Maybe it's just extra ventilation!

I'm having the same issues with the 2013 for bib and bib knickers. The 2013 has the different colored chamois, red with the black outline. My older ones that have the solid red chamois have no issues after a couple years.

I usually buy my Sugoi bibs @ the annual factory sale.
Luckily I skipped it this year, I'll look out for any leftover 2013 stock when I do the sale this year.
