93 Trek 1200 value?
I'm new to the sport and just purchased my first bike yesterday. A friend of a friend is saying this bike is worth 100 in stock form so now I'm a little concerned that I overpaid.
1993 Trek 1200 frame
Shimano 105 brakes
Shimano R600 shifters on the downtube, I think crank is R600 too
Alex AS-1 wheels, Specialized tires
Bontrager bars
Giant computer
8 speeds in the rear
I paid 240. Thoughts?

Don't worry about it. Assuming it's in mint condition, you did just fine. If it's needs replacement parts, then yes, you overpaid.
You can't change the past either way, so just enjoy it.

Welcome to the world of two/three wheelers maybe even four.
OK I'll bite. First I wouldn't be concerned if you paid too much for a 93 that you feel good riding. Remember it's only $240. Where else would you find a good road bike with 105s for that kind of money. Next if you use it for a while you can always resell it for very close to what you paid in the first place. Try that with a new bike. Cost of ownership is going to be quite cheap. It's kinda like buying a good used car. Enjoy your new to you ride it will lead you to an enjoyable lifestyle.
Now that said if you go to the bike blue book for your bike https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/Searc...x=20000&type=0 You will see that values run from $248 to $158. But remember as in buying a used car the blue book isn't the end all. It all boils down to if you like your purchase of not. Good luck with your new bike and enjoy the ride.

Stock parts are also not 105 or 600, so that's a plus.
The only way OP is out is if the bike doesn't get used.

I owned a silver 1200 of that era (but 7 spd 105, bonded aluminum frame/fork). I liked it a lot, but sold it when I went back to school. Good solid bike. Just ride it.

I had a 1992 Trek 1200 as my first road bike and I really enjoyed it. Its quality is better than my 2006 Raleigh Grandprix. And I paid $300 for it, although sold it for $280 after 700 miles since the frame was a little big for me. Good luck!

I just sold a 1990s Trek 1500 with 105 for $150 in good to excellent condition. That's not saying that is what the market would bear in other areas. Sometimes when you find a bike that fits just right and suits your needs, you have to pay what the seller will accept, within reason. My father restored and collected antique vehicles and people would often ask him what a particular car was worth. His answer was usually "Whatever someone is willing to pay for it".

Last summer, I sold a 1991 Trek 1400 with upgraded STI shifters for $300. The bike was in great shape.
