Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think everyone should just post pics of emos and goths in the Hot Topic threads.

If I didn't live in a place where misunderstanding was guaranteed to cause problems one way or another, I'd rock these because I think the mud-flap girl, like Bettie Page, should be appreciable by everyone.

My winter bike has fenders with a rear mudflap, complete with a mudflap girl.

You can get non-Ti mudflap girl bar end plugs here but those are valve caps and I believe there is a matching bell. I figured that if I'm going to insist on valve caps- and I am- then I might as well have fun and be consciously fredly about the whole thing. (Why is a female Fred not called an Ethel?) Jury is still out on whether to also get the bell if I get these or if they're all going to cause more trouble than I want to handle.

Consensus is that a female Fred is "Doris" but I actually prefer the Flintstones-induced "Betty." Not sure about Ethel, she may get the bronze medal.

But Fred wasn't married to Betty. Fred was married to Wilma. Barney was married to Betty. And if we're going to pick a woman who was married to a man named Fred then Ethel Mertz would tough to top. Besides, I thought Betty got transferred to cycling from the skateboarding world.

Game on!

But the "correct" answer is Doris, even though your case for Ethel is a good one. I would include Doris, Betty, Wilma, and Ethel as options in the poll.

I'm creating a new thread and at the bottom of my post is the option to "Post a poll" and then I can limit the number of options. But how does it know what my options are going to be? Do I just put them on separate lines?

I have no objection to them being called Ramonas. Maybe that would help stamp out the whole association with the Beverly Cleary books.

I love that the thread shows up as "Poll: Hot Topic with Poll" as if having "poll" before the title wasn't sufficient to tip people off. I saw a few other threads that looked like that so I included it in the title because I think it adds to the absurdity and fun.

Oh my gosh. I have this nuttiness going on and the Promethazine, Tylenol, and SuperSour Rockstar all started kicking in and I feel better than I have all day.
