I guess what what I'm saying is that I don't hate Specialized bikes, but maybe some of their owners.

But for others, that irony is, good small companies that are innovative and really capture the market with bikes the masses really want to ride....the Roubaix was a watershed bike in the endurance genre for example, Specialized invented it....those companies become in effect a victim of their success, as least in the eyes of paranoid haters who see conspiracy plots behind every large company that evolve from a small company.

As to your stereotype about Specialized owners, you join the ranks of those who believe Cervelos are all owned by snobs.
So lets be clear about one thing.. You are a hater...lol. You should really talk to somebody about that. :)

Very clever - only she's more of a generalist - not Specialized. After all, she gave you a ride.

C) you either love them because they're the best or you hate them because they're the best.

The reality, which will no doubt be lost on the fanboys, is that there's a wide spectrum of attitudes towards any company, ranging from hate -> indifference -> love and that there's likely a pretty significant bell curve hump hanging over the 'indifferent' part of the scale. Personally, I'm in that indifferent hump - I use and enjoy their shoes, saddles and helmets, but haven't been particularly moved (in either direction) by their bikes.

Well you should refer to the thread about "How often do you wash your kit?" for some pointers if you're itchy.

zvez 02-12-14 01:56 PM

damn! I'm doubly screwed, a specialized "fanboy" and cervelo "snob" ;)

Just a warning...if you own both bikes, you should not go out in public. If you do, you should wear a scarlet letter on your jersey.

Years ago I almost bought a US Postal Service Madone but I decided not to for fear of being labeled a snob by people who didn't know me. Wait a minute. How does that go again? Specialized owners are thin skinned, Cervelo owners are snobs, Seven and Moots owners are dentists, what are Trek owners again? Hard to keep this stuff straight. I think the 41 has stumbled on a new formula for buying a road bike. Forget geometry. Each prospective owner has to take a personality test.

zvez 02-12-14 03:48 PM

ha!

Though clever, don't think Trek hugger is gonna stick. In any event, project 1 Treks are dope.

Call me a Trek Hugger all you want, when I drop your ass on a climb maybe you'll realize it's the Indian and not the arrow. **sarcasm**

Here's the thing, I'll ride what I like, what feels best, one from the best bike shop in my mind and I don't give a fahk what anyone thinks.
