Wow, I am just amazed that we are talking about an aero wheelset with a powertap hub weighing just a bit more than 1500g, and it is "not light by any means".

Well these are not the full aero wheels. The 6.7 weigh 1730g w the power tap. When u spend $3k+ 1600g for climbing wheels seems like a lot!

Just gain some weight. Then the wheel weight will go down as a percentage of total bike + rider weight.

I know that there are deeper wheels, but a 50/60 wheelset are aero wheels, and aero wheels generally come with an weight penalty. I was considering a similar wheelset, but was steered to something shallower in front because I am probably too small/ light for a front wheel that deep (although newer semi-toroidal designs are supposed to be better in crosswinds).

The fact that you can even refer to a wheelset build with 50mm rims (much less adding 60mm in there) as being in the contention for a set of "climbing" wheels is a bit mindblowing to me.

well prepare to have your mind more blown! These are 35mm front and 45mm rear. My chinese clinchers are 50/50 and weigh 120g less :)
