selling my felt f5 sorta
I have a good friend I am selling this bike to. We went and looked and he just does not have the money. As his size bike needed is the same as mine a 56 itll work out good for him.
I told him I would sell it to him for $500 and he asked that I give him a fair price. I think I paid $2100 at the time of purchase

While I did put a new seat post, saddle, breaks and calipers and near bran new tubes/tires I am not looking to squeeze him so I can just leave these off. Yes I still have factory stuff and I suppose I can put it back on but meh.. I will be ridding with him and itll give him a great bike and me a reason to buy a new bike. He has been a good friend for a long time but asked I give him a fair honest price. I really had not given resale much thought until now.
Bike is in good/great shape I am not looking to get the most out of him. I know you can get some great deals on new bikes year end so my guess is around 1k ish.
As for my self Im not looking to spend more than I did and might even spend less. I do at least know what I want this time around

For a 2012, to someone you like, you could do 40-50% of what you paid, and I think you could both feel a fair exchange. I would personally put it back to stock, especially if you like and would reuse those parts.

I bet you could part it out on ebay for 750+- so 500 is a good deal. I think you could get 500 for the frame on ebay all day long.

$500 appears more than fair (unless it has huge miles or is in crappy condition). It doesn't look like the $2100 includes the upgrades you mention. If you are including that stuff, $500 might be on the "too cheap" side. (He isn't likely to be as happy with what he could get for $250, or whatever). (Maybe, he could stop buying beer or whatever for a month or so and afford it.)

Thanks Ill work something out with him. He will make small payments to me. I would rather give him the bike for cheap and ride w/him than him not have a bike at all. He is pretty thin financially but he is still one of those people who wants to pay and does not want to short me.

I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion to the last few posts- the frame/fork on your bike is almost identical to the FC frameset that Felt currently sells for $1600, plus a solid groupset...$500 would be extremely generous, especially if you're taking it in payments. That said, it doesn't sound like you're hurting for the money and having a solid person to ride with is pretty priceless.

I guess you missed the part where I put the word extremely in front of generous and you went with the word fairly. Let me make it mo' clear: $500 for a 2012 F5 isn't even close to fair market value for the seller, and I wouldn't even *think* about selling my 2011 F5 frame, excluding the fork and everything else hanging on it, for $500.
