after painting the rest of the room and living in it for a day, it turns out the color is perfect.

still only needed one coat, and still have a little over half a gallon left. i'm wondering if they can remix the remainder into something darker and greyer.

The median age of the SU Starbucks crowd just jumped by about 30 years.

Living here in the Pacific Northwest and having a writerly temperament, I've learned there is nothing that can't be made darker and greyer.

speaking of, i'm planning a road trip in a month. pac-nw (seattle via portland) might be on the places to go, but i'm working out a couch surfing path from oakland, ca back to behind the cheddar curtain. depending on levels of stupid weather, the route will move further south. right now it's looking like vegas to OK and then back north. i doubt ID an WY will be much fun on a bike in the second week of April.

As a follow up to my cycling safety glasses public service announcement, be sure to buy ones that are anti fog. The other ones are fogtastic.

sbxx1985 03-04-14 05:23 PM

Did you move out, ts?

RollCNY 03-04-14 05:25 PM

I just received prescription wrap around safety glasses, ray ban green tint, antifog treated. I am excited. $133 and I can see!

yes. i'm squatting at a friend's vacant rental property for a while.

sbxx1985 03-04-14 05:55 PM

I hope the move is for the better.

datlas 03-04-14 05:55 PM

I don't usually track these things, but for kicks I checked my stats for 2014 so far - 11 rides, 400 miles. That's really way too little for me.

Sigh.

sbxx1985 03-04-14 05:58 PM

Hey LAJ - Keith showed me the Alize in court the other day. Sweet. It came out wonderfully. Looks great. It's also so nice to see something different around here.

How does the ride compare to November? Raced by UHC, I bet it's stiffer.

Henh heh. Henh heh. You said "squatting".

On a more serious note, did you get your sewing machine, etc?

i have the essentials. the sewing machine, associated materials, and my computer, so i can work. a couple dishes, some clothes, etc. and i had a mattress and a sofa delivered yesterday, so there are places to sit and sleep.

i need to move two of three cats tomorrow or thursday. he decided to keep one. i think that's mean to the cat, to separate her and leave her alone most of the week, but i'm not interested in arguing.

Hey y'all, don't forget it's FAT TUESDAY, still not too late to go out and shake a leg, especially on the left coast.

I just got back from a little shindig, good friends, good food, good drinks, bleh music . . . 3 outta 4 ain't bad.

Keith and I got him into a hospital bed in the back room Monday where just
Saturday night my Dad spent time with many of us and we got a final moment
of enjoying him relatively happy and lucid. I do believe he was joyful to be home
and surrounded by so much love.

Over the past two days he is barely cognizant, since Sunday night he has been speaking
mostly in Greek, and he seems to be somewhere else. It reminds me of that poignant
scene at the end of film ‘Gladiator’ where the dying protagonist is walking through a
field of tall summer gold and you see only his hand floating through the wheat.
Maybe my Dad is in Evia in his mind now, and they speak Greek there.

Thano and Bonzo were a bright shining star of love for 40 years and their gravity
kept all of us steady in intersecting orbits, blood lines and geography
notwithstanding. What I witnessed this weekend in Cresskill defines family
more profoundly than any genetics ever could, and I have never felt so blessed
or so proud to be a part of it and all of you.

I can never thank all of you enough. I love you all.

Love,

Peter

Pcad,

I have never shared this on the forums and it may not be in regards with my parents, but went through something very similar with my Grandfather back in 2009. The week before he passed he was his normal self, he went downhill fast that final week. My uncle who lives in alaska flew in the day before he passed he was himself for those few hours after. So if you need to vent, feel more than free to pm me.

It was a bit strange to read this. I have the exception.

We got bad news. My wife has the gene mutation for familial CJD. Her variant has a 90% penetrance, meaning it’s going to kill her. What triggers the disease is unknown. Once triggered, you die fast. Her sister got to walk away.

She can either sit around and wait to die, or she can enjoy every day this green earth has to offer. We choose the latter.

I'm sorry.

MTB Shenanigans

LAJ 03-04-14 09:49 PM

Thank you sbxx. It rides like nothing I have ever ridden. It jumps when I stomp on it. Unfortunately, I haven't taken it out on a real ride, but so far, the commuting stuff over the roads I know like the back of my hand... It's way cool. It is very stiff, and it almost reminds me of my old Schwinn, which is a great bike to ride. Except, this bike is like 8 pounds lighter.

For some odd reason, these words are unusual. I don't know why either, but in my head, they are. sbxx, that is an absolutely gorgeous Cervelo.

It was great to see him at Carter. He did well.
