Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was disappointed here recently when even the weight weenie guys would not rise up to berate me for swapping out a CF seat post with an aluminum one. Shocking.
Pretty sure that TCC stands for "Totally Captive Customer"....

Us WW-ers only chuckle quietly at the mention of Thomson seatpost...after all, my god the amount of claimed aerospace engineering expertise that goes into those aluminum works of art...who can berate them in public?

I am happy to be able to report from today's life experiences that a root canal ain't nuthin to be a-feared of...

Frankly, I was thinking about bikes as the endodontic specialist spent less than 45 minutes messing around in my mouth and charges upwards of $1400 for this effort...more specifically, my thoughts were along the lines of..."if he does no less than 6 of these procedures a day, with his cash flow he likely has a fleet of $10K bikes in his basement..."

Around here just as many Corgis as Jacks. Horses do better with other animals around. Corgi's are not scared of horses. Easy to train to not spook horses too.

Maybe Jacks are the same? I've seen a couple around stables with no problems. Both dogs can go after rodents. Corgi's are handy for herding cattle, sheep, and geese. Maybe another job for them in a place that has horses and animals to herd. ???

A Colder Spring

Will you help me come around
Can you hear that distant sound
Can I get back to the light
If you help me then I might

I’ve been in a darker place
I’ve been in a haunted space
You’ve been watching on the side
But you hung on for the ride

Hope is trying to take wing
It’s a bright and colder spring

I’ve been in a foreign land
It was harder than I planned
You were there to hold me near
You’re the reason I’m still here

Hope is trying to take wing
It’s a bright and colder spring

When you finally break on through
It was waiting there for you
You recover from the pain
But it’s never quite the same

Will you help me come around
Can you hear that distant sound
Can you get me through the night
If you’re with me I just might

Hope is trying to take wing
It’s a bright and colder spring

I rode my bike like 11 out of the last 12 days. I am so fat and slow it's scary.

But I don't care.

Much.

That's awesome. I had a sizeable dose of the flakes with dinner last night. Fantastic.

I tried Jeff's jalapeńo and Chef's Blend 21 tonight.

Can't you get the part number from BMC, order it from the shop that ordered the last one, send the old one back to the shop, and get your new post, pain in the ass aside? The shop should accommodate you, and two weeks seems plenty of time.

Someone got 100% on their Firearms Transactions module assessment the very first time through. Someone also impressed the Firearms Compliance inspector by remembering that the application to purchase that was completed yesterday morning was for a Ruger 10/22.

Sure we can. And we might have to. It did take just over two weeks last time, however. This time we are trying to get LBS to talk BMC into shipping directly to us. But if there is any way to do it ourselves, that would be preferable, if just to have some assurance the right thing is being ordered.

Shop also really doesn't care that much. I tried to order some bars from them, they dragged their feet on even getting me price, timeframe for delivery, etc. When I called them on it, the answer from the shop owner was "look, it's just a $100 order...". As in not a priority for us. And with the seatpost, it actually was not just a hundred dollar order. Whatever, I got the bars elsewhere within 48hr but I'm stuck with LBS in regards to the seatpost, I guess.

BTW, we tried to actually buy the bike from this shop, but they never returned our calls.

Today was a wacky day anyway. Yesterday I found out I was supposed to account for an additional 40 minutes of commute on both ends of my shift but also not go over 40 hours for the week. I was already at 20 hours of work and 200 minutes of commute so this was likely to be a problem. I wound up leaving 40 minutes early. Today, tomorrow, and all next week I get to go in at 8am instead of 7 and one of those days I'm leaving early. Today and tomorrow my schedule was/is to start at 8, work till about noon, take an hour lunch, and leave at 2pm. A person could get used to that.
