Just picked these up in 700x25 with the desire to ride them at 90 psi, but once I got home Im looking at the tire and it says min psi 115/max 160 so can I even run these safely at 90 psi when I weigh 170?

Since the manufacturer has a minimum, I would stick with that. Tires are designed and built differently. I assume the higher pressure is because the tire doesn't hold it's shape well with lower pressure.

hmmm thanks for the typical lawer answer that I did not want to hear LOL. Is is branded as a race tire, so I could see that being the driving force behind the min psi.

if it were me, i'd run them at what i wanted to run them at. if i didn't like the look of the profile or something else that i thought could only be rectified by more or less PSI than recommended, well... i might get rid of them and look for something else, more likely i'd run them to the cords, then buy something else, unless i really liked them. if so, then i'd just buy another set.

i suspect the manufacturer's marketing department is behind this... why? because they convinced management it would sell more tires, what else? :)

well if they don't work at 90 then I gonna return them, no problem man.

Did you get these from Performance Bike for around 30 bucks? I had them on my Defy and didn't like them and returned for Michelin Pro Race 3. Much less rolling resistance and smoother turning.

LBS, they don't stock 28's of course.

You "could" run them at 90 psi but will most likely run the risk of pinch flats. Run them at the min. and see what you think. Chances are you will be satisfied with that. 115 ain't all that bad for a 28mm tire! Next time, pay attention to the min/max psi rating of a tire to get a better idea of what you want in ride quality.

Just to be clear these are 25c and 115 in any size tire is way to high for most of the roads around here unless your racing.
I've ridden plenty of 23c tires at 90 psi. This is the first tire i've owned with a min rating so wasn't looking out for it.

If these are the Performance SE tires, I didn't like them. Worthless in the wet. I went down in the parking lot just doing a pre-ride check and also slid out on a wet corner that day. Took them off after that ride. Be that as it may, I rode 23c Tri-Comps for many years at above 115 and liked them fine that way. 160 lbs. then. Fast tires and my favorite brevet tire. I think they need the pressure to present correctly to the road. Vredestein's new tire line has the same 8 bar minimum. If you don't want that much pressure, run a different tire.

i've found that the more i disliked the tire, the longer it lasted. i've got a couple that just WILL NOT wear out :). funny thing is, it's doesn't seem to effect how flat prone they are...

DOH! I should have looked at the post, I thought they were 28. :(
