Insurance Comp

Greetings, all
I spend most of my time at C&V. First post here in Road. I have (had?) a 2003 Aegis Aro Svelte that was damaged when our home went up in flames Feb. 16. Aegis, sadly, went out of business a few years ago when the economy tanked, so I'm wondering whether any of you might be familiar enough with the bike to give me a current comp for it.

Here is the bikepedia link to the Aegis. I have the orange. It's a very pretty bike.

I still ride (rode :() the bike a lot, but I've not kept current on what's out there. Any help would be appreciated!

The insurance company would probably go for a value close to what bicycle blue book lists it at. So $700 in absolutely mint condition or $400

Yep, that will be the depreciated value. I would have the option of taking that money and sitting on it. But if I replace the bike they will pay me the difference between that deprecited value and a comparable new bike. So that's why I need to know what a new current comp would be.

If your asking what's on the market new that's a comparable replacement, I'd argue something along the lines of a Trek 4.7 at $3149.

Mid level CF frame, and Ultegra components, same level as your bike..

The counter would be that everytihng has gottent better and a current 105/Tiagra level bike is arguably better than a 2002 Ultegra spec'd bike.

But I'd try to get my LBS to say the Trek 4.7,or similar, equipped with the same Ultegra level components is the appropiate comp.
