Tires squeaking on trainer
Just wondering what may cause this noise.
It was dead quiet until couple of days ago and come yesterday, the tire is making Can't squeaking noise. It only makes the noise when I pedal, not a constant noise. The "arms" on the trainer that hold the quick release are shaking a bit but I think that's normal. The wheel is true laterally. I do see a slight wobble vertically but it's nothing significant; also pretty normal, I think. The wobble seems to be caused by the tire, the wheels don't seem to be out of true vertically either. Trainer is being used in the same place as usual as well. Can't think of any reasons why the noise would come out of nowhere and quite frankly, its driving me nuts by now. |
are you leaving the bike on the trainer? you might just need air in the tire to make harder contact. tires squeak when they slip on the roller

they should not shake. Sounds like it could be a problem in the bearings of the trainer seizing up. Which would cause your tire to slip and squeek.

I check the pressure every time I ride the trainer, just like I do when I ride outside. It also helps reduce wear on the tire. |
is the tire slipping when it heats up on the trainer ?

Could be trainer spindle bearings. But I ride the trainer with very high pressure in my tires, 120 psi, which seems to help eliminate squeaking.

They're sick of being stuck inside and are squealing for you to ride outside.

I have a trainer tire and I can run it at a very low psi, that way it sucks up the bumps more and it is a smoother ride.

Try cleaning the tire and where it contacts the roller with alcohol or window cleaner. Rubber debri can build up causing it to squeak.
