Cannondale SuperSix EVO 5 105 D vs Cannondale CAAD10 3 Ultegra C
 

For a 1st road bike which would be better? There the same price. I know i would get better components with the caad10 but i get CF with the supersix. thanks for all the help

There are only slight differences between the two geo wise.

Is this a sale on one or both? Frame sizes the same?

ultegra is a little more refined compared to 105 but both will keep you entertained (at least 105 keeps me entertained) Get the one more aesthetically pleasing or go with the shifters that feel better in your hands.

I would say that good aluminum is better than cheap carbon, but an EVO really isn't cheap carbon.

Ride them both, I think you'll find the frames ride similarly. I'd probably lean toward the CAAD10 for 6800, the crank will probably shift better as well.

Ultegra 6700 is better than 5700, but 6800 is better than Dura Ace 7900.

doubt you go wrong with either but I really like the paint on the red/wht/blue caad 3, its at the top of my list for a new bike this spring if we ever get past the snow (5" last night here, ugh!!)

I'd go for the EVO with 105 - love my pair of CAAD10s and won't be upgrading for quite some time, but the EVO is a nicer ride.

Unless you plan on racing, where aluminum may come thru a crash better than carbon, I wouldn't even consider it an issue.

I have a 2011 CAAD 10-4 Rival, but if the EVO 105 had been the same price I'd have gone with the EVO. Either bike will be great, though.

Go for the EVO.
I have a CAAD 8 with Ultegra and an EVO with Ultegra Di2. Admittedly, the CAAD is older but the EVO is nicer in every way.

I'd get the the EVO, strip off the 105 and sell it on ebay, and install sram Red.

EVO will give you better platform to upgrade; however, you'll have to drop a lot of money.

CAAD10 3 will come with very solid components right away. No cost to upgrade. CAAD10 isn't necessarily a bad frame, but if you're counting grams, I think the EVO is ~100g lighter, so it'll be easier to build a lighterweight build on over the CAAD10.

FYI, I was deciding between a 2012 CAAD103 and 2012 Supersix 6. With the extra cash from the Supersix, I could've bought some really nice wheels or a new crankset or even a 5 piece drivetrain upgrade kit. I opted for the CAAD10 and regret nothing. I've been infected with upgraditis. I can't imagine how bad it would be if I had the lower grade components.

It's pretty entertaining to read these responses. There's a SS Evo in my family (2012 frame so it's a higher quality than what we're talking about here) and after riding both extensively, I chose to get the CAAD10 because the differences were pretty minimal. My next frame will be a Synapse HM, for the record.

For me. If you never plan on upgrading... I would go with the CAAD10 with ultegra 6800. 6800 is really nice. Amazing shifting. 11 speeds. Brand new design vs 105 that's about to get replaced

If you are the type. That's into changing parts. Wheels. New components..... I would go with the supersix. Nicer frame.

Tough choice. I have an Evo on order but haven't ridden it. I also have a caad. People generally say buy a bike for the frame not the components. Both are excellent frames but I think most would give the nod to the Evo. The 6800 is supposedly a lot better though so in terms of a complete bike the Caad might be the better option out the door. If it was me, I'd probably shop around and see if I could get a good price on the Evo 3 ultegra and get the best of both. You could end up spending more down the road on upgrade-itis.

Ok i went to another bike shop that sells giants. i was looking at the giant TCR Composite 1. They set it up on a trainer and did a quick fit (moved the saddle and handlebars) nothing major, but it was my first time on a road bike and i rly liked how it felt. So how does the TCR stack up against the CAAD10 AND SUPER SIX? Also im goin to try all 3 out but its still a bit to cold to. Im trying to do as much research as i can b4 i try them out. thanks for all the info

CAAD10 cause I have 2 of them. I rode the Evo, not impressed.

If you're just picking between a CAAD and an EVO because they're cool on the internet...well, don't do that. Ride all three and pick the one you like the best. They're all fine bikes. Ride other bikes too. Enjoy the experience of picking out the bike you plan to ride for years to come.

You can't go wrong with either one. Every time I get on the CAAD it puts a huge smile on my face!

I think charging 500 bucks more for the ultegra groupset than the 105 groupset (even though it has 11 vs 10 speeds) is a little too high. Not sure I'd want to pay 2250 for a CAAD 10.
