Dura Ace Di2 vs. Ultegra Di2
I don't race but want to go electronic
Any reason to pay a lot more for Dura Ace?
I always found Ultegra (mechanical) to shift very smoothly and be pretty light

Actually would mechanical dura ace be a viable alternative?
Building up a S-Works Tarmac myself and at about $7000 for Ultegra Di2 vs. $9300 for Dura Ace Di2
Is it worth the extra cash?

I have Ultegra DI2 and it shifts flawlessly.Read all the reviews, but it became apparent the only significant difference is a small weight factor and a big price difference, other than that they're similar in shifting. The newer 6870 is supposed to have lost some weight.

I think somebody posted recently that they own both and can't feel any difference between the two. I think Dura Ace is lighter but probably not enough lighter to justify the price difference.

If you're not racing, seems like having Ultegra-level Di2 and about $2300 in your pocket for a wheelset or other cycling goods is a plenty good trade-off.

From what I see, the difference is about $950.00 between the two. Performance sells a complete Ultegra 6870 di2 kit for $1250 and a DA9070 kit for $2,200, seems to come with everything you need but if I were doing it from scratch I would go with the e-tube battery which may add a few bucks to either setup? I have Ultegra di2 on my bike and it works pretty darn good, cant see myself ever having mechanical shifters after having di2.

149 grams on a year old weigh from Velonews. That doesn't include the non-electric parts though

I have the 10-speed versions of each on two similar bikes. Functionally I can't tell them apart. The Ultegra FD makes a little bit different/louder noise when shifting, but that's about it.

can the ultegra Di2 take the seat post battery? I got to say I love that aspect, it makes for a super clean install, and you just plug into the port mounted on steering stem. The other the Di2 9070 has is a second set of buttons you mount on the straight part of the handlebar this is so you cann shift while climbing and not having to take your hands off the bars to get to brifters.

I would also vote Ui2 since you are not looking for the most weight savings and Ui2 works great.
I'm a SRAM RED guy but I like DA mechanical a lot.

After going with Ultegra 6770 DI2 to replace my Dura Ace 7900 equipment, I would never buy or build another bike without DI2. And unless you are chasing weight or just a person who wants the very best, there's no real reason to go DA DI2 over Ultegra DI2. My only gripe is that I wish it would automatically move the rear derailleur 2 or 3 cogs higher when changing from big to little ring if you're in the lower range of the rear cassette, but that's minor.
