If you're spending that kind of coin, you are not going to get a bad bike, whatever brand you choose. Sure, some have a little edge in design/stiffness/weight etc. but once you are north of $10k, it's going to be mostly a matter of taste and fit. Perhaps quite a bit before you get to $10k. Maybe north of $5 k?

ok. A quick design point: The drive side and non-drive side of the frames are different shapes and laid up differently to address the specific loads. That's hard to tell by looking at a photo on the interwebz and probably has a lot to do with the ride quality.
But, oh yeah, the man is out go get you and is just ripping you off...they all come out of one factory in China...

OP, some people really like the look of Pinas. If that gets them out on the bike more often then looks = performance.
Personally I dislike them. Even uglier than the roubaix.

happy with my '85 pinarello treviso. not the lightest but it has internal cable routing and smooths out the bumps since it's steel. i'd buy it again.

That's because in this class of race bike, the manufacturers are all striving for similar ride characteristics. There's only so many parts to a bicycle frame that can be modified to impact those.

They are a very clever company. By focusing on stiffness, they can forgo all those R&D costs other companies sink into "light and stiff" layups. Then capitalize on the history of their name while having some Eastern Hemisphere sweat shops make the frames for cheap, add a few wavy things for style points, and sponsor some pro teams so any onlooker who doesn't know any better will think they are the cat's meow.
BAM, market share and high profit/frame.

The truth and nothing but the truth. But not the whole truth. What you left out is that Pinarello actually sells more bikes by overpricing them rather then fewer. There is a huge segment of the population that can't resist a rip off of that magnitude. "If a bike is that expensive and I can afford it, it must be good and I must be great." No decisions to make, no choices, just spend the most you can. As we say, "They drank the Kool Aid."

There is some price to pay for the. Brand but it's not like they are selling crap at a premium price. Do some research on the product before making such a silly statement.

Some of us understand why the name Pinarello makes cyclists giddy... and what made them great.
This is what comes to mind for many of us when the name is mentioned.
In the modern day that name carries some weight and from all accounts they still make a great bike.

Oh, and the effect of that price tag being so outrageous it confers legitimacy on itself. Counterintuitive but true. Can YOU honestly not put together a bike from parts that you think (from that research) will be as attractive and perform as well and be $7,500 cheaper (retail basis)? I know I can. QED
