You poor lamb, I weep for your inability to make meaningless decisions.

I'd be cross shopping 9000 and 6870.

Seems silly to make a decision. Put 9000 on the commuter, duh.

I just decided....9000. If you go mech 9000, get the new 9001 shifters.

Honestly, if money isn't a criteria then it comes down to whether or not you like that tactile feel of the mechanical shifting. Both are awesome, so it comes down to personal preference there.

Money is part of the calculus...always is...but the battery is part of the equation as well. It could be argued that that battery is less of an issue than cable life of mechanical groupsets and they would probably be right but if I don't want to think about battery life, then that is a plus of mechanical. If you do a combination of DA 9000 and Ultegra 6800 its still going to be cheaper than Ultegra Di2...and you will get DA shifters and front and rear derailleurs. I am gathering parts for my DA 9000 build right now and doing a combo of Ultegra because I just can't see the mega increase in cost for some of the DA parts when Ultegra is almost the same. I do want the DA shifters and front derailleur however. I wouldn't go Ultegra crank either because I can't stand to look at it. :) Choice of crank will be based on frameset BB...maybe DA 9000 crank or maybe even Sram Force 22 which is probably the best crank for the buck for BB/PF30. |
