Thoughts on this bike?
Trek Medone 5.2 Road Bike
Between being repainted, having one replaced wheel and the bike model seemingly being misspelled, I'm a little suspicious, but as far as I can tell that's also a bike that was $3000+ when new being sold for under 500 (which also makes me suspicious). Looks like 2005 or 2006 as best I can tell.
Anyway, I was intrigued when I saw that, so wanted to see what people who are vastly more knowledgeable thought about the posting.

I don't think it's a Madone myself. But I could be wrong. I would give whats he's asking though it has some decent parts and it's at least a 10 speed.

Shorter stem, flipped and dropped below one or two of those spacers and a black seat and it'll look a lot better.
Change out one or the other wheel for a matching one and it'll look a lot better.
Inspect it carefully for frame cracks, find none and offer the guy $400 cash on the spot and it'll look pretty damned awesome.

if it really does have full ultegra (thats fully funtioning without issues), and the frameset has no damage, then its worth what he's asking.
but i would be highly skeptical of it being an actual 5.2 at that price. there are ebay chinese framesets that looks like that.

These guys are crazy. Flipped/more aggressive stem with a sexy saddle and you now would have sex on wheels. Those tubes on that frame remind me of a male's adam's apple. Very macho.. any hot girl cyclist would be irresistible to you with a few tweaks.
Those welding points make the frame look aggressive and the paint looks good online. My only real concerns would be authenticity and price.

If it fits you, it is reasonably priced. No problems if it's 9speed at that price. You can part it out later on eBay, if you desire.
You don't need to swap any components off it, just to make it "look better". That said..... It certainly needs to be set up differently (but you knew that).
For me, unless I was planning on selling the wheels, I'd get out a hair dryer and remote all the decals from the rims. With a no-logo frame, you gotta go all-in with the motif.
I like the flattop bars he has on there, but set aside $15 for new handlebar tape.

Bigger question is why the re-paint?
That suggests crash & repair.

Yeah, it's no beauty right now, and as I said Im' definitely also worried by the confluence of all those factors like the repaint... but at the same time, it's hard to ignore a full set of ultegra etc. at that price.
