Injury Update
I had an appointment with the trauma surgeon today and it went very well. He took me of the wound vacuum, so now the incision is being treated with honey and a nonstick bandage.
He also gave me the green light to resume cycling as soon as my orthopedic doctor says it's ok. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the ortho, so let's keep happy thoughts going. The one concern I have is the swelling in my left ankle joint. There's no pain, but that area is quite swollen and it was black&blue for a few weeks after the accident. |
Good luck on the recovery.

Great news BSY, this one makes my day, and I'm sure it made yours even more. Getting shed of the wound vac is a big moment, I felt like I was free of a restraint. Hopefully the ankle isn't serious and is only some bruising from the accident. Please keep the update continued as you progress. You've shown great character since your accident.

Great news. Will keep good thoughts for a complete recovery.
Most days I walk 4-6 miles for exercise, but today I took it easy(3.2miles). I'm glad I did because while I was at the grocery store about .6miles from home, I started to get dizzy, and felt like I was about to pass out. I sat down for a little bit, drank some water and relaxed a bit before finishing my walk. Luckily I was not riding or it could have gotten ugly. |
Great to hear of your progress. Are you still riding the Pedal Force? How is it treating you? 4-6 miles consistently? I'm impressed. Good luck on your appt.

The Pedal Force hit the freeway(off a bike rack) back in mid February. It lasted 100,000miles, and I had a new groupset on order, but I hated to see it go like that. It was a great bike, and I got a great deal on the frameset through a BF group buy($550.00 w/shipping in 2007).
Mind me asking what your replacement is? And how are your nerves about riding again? Any anxiety issues? I think I would be pensive about riding again after suffering an accident like yours. |
Nervous about riding in traffic again? No, but I'm sure I'll be very cautious.
The new ride is a CF frameset by ADK. ADK is the Taiwanese company that actually builds CF frames for many companies you would know such as Fuji/Kestrel(ASI) & Pedal Force. Luckily it has the exact dimensions as my old Pedal Force, so at least I know how it will fit. |

Interesting. I know some Pedal Force bikes are open frame Chinese carbon. They must source their frames from a variety of factories.
It looks like ADK no longer builds frames(only forks). |
