There's always a tailwind wherever you are -- it's just blowing the wrong way most of the time.

And headwinds are the devil's work.

If you post on the 41, you'll never make it to heaven to find out.

Jiggle 04-13-14 11:13 AM

Tailwinds are hot. In Heaven there would be no wind.

moppeddler 04-13-14 11:25 AM

What is this "tailwind" phenomenon you speak of?

MagicHour 04-13-14 12:23 PM

I was extremely thankful to finally do a ride yesterday without 20mph chilling winds in my face! No, not a tailwind but I'll take it!

*Now* you tell me. :p

Yes, a tail wind and a slight down hill grade. Working hard but pushing the bike at about 22+ mph. Just great!

If there is a heaven, it's a place with a 50mph headwind that I can smash 2000 watts into all day long.

coachboyd 04-15-14 08:52 AM

My heaven has crosswinds to blow up the field.

zymphad 04-15-14 08:56 AM

Who was riding northshroe in MA yesterday? Biggest headwind of the year. There aren't any huge hills here, but a few I can reach about 40-45 mph, yesterday I swear maybe 5 mph down the hill not pedaling. It was that bad. And the crosswind was brutal.

Ludkeh 04-15-14 09:28 AM

That's why yesterday's ride was Heaven out and Hell back!

One man's heaven is another man's hell. I presume that would be assuming you made the lead echelon.

Well maybe if you weighed more you could coast down that hill faster.

StephenH 04-15-14 12:00 PM

If you had 20 mph tailwinds all the time and then one day it was a 19 mph tailwind, you'd complain about that. If it was 70 degrees every day, then one day it was 71, there's another complaint. It's all in your mind. If you always had nice weather, you'd be bored by it and wish for something else.

Sometime when I have a strong tailwind and fly up (relatively speaking) a 8% climb, I always thought to myself that's probably how a doper feels.

bonz50 04-15-14 01:43 PM

I had some not so friendly foods for lunch, today I have winds from my tail.
