I hit 41 mph this past weekend and was pretty nervous. I'm sure when my new bike gets here this week I'll receive bike super powers and break the 50 mph mark

32 mph. I live in Houston so we only have flats. Would like to ride some hills, but would probably be too nervous to go above 40.

Edit: It's just the top speed I achieved cycling downhill and not a sustained ride speed in anyway. Might even have lasted less than 5 seconds.

64mph on my mountain bike several years ago. I was still gaining speed but I had to brake because there was a patch of gravel at the bottom of the hill.

42.5 or so. Wasn't even on the steepest or longest hill I've gone down. In fact the hill is fairly short. Was just a mixture of smooth, straight, downhill road and strong tailwind. 100 yards later and I was climbing up the other side.

I was at 39 yesterday, as fast as I go without starting to feel concerned about it. So for practical purposes 40 is my limit. I've reached mid-40's on my rain bike though.

I hit 45.5mph on my cross bike yesterday...fastest I've been on that bike so far. The fat tires are confidence inspiring, but the carbon wheels and cantilever brakes? Not so much.

I've gone north of 50 mph going downhill a number of times and over 60 once. A loaded touring bike with panniers on lowriders is more stable at speed than a racing bike. I've done 30 in the flats but that was in a paceline.

52 here. Strava Segment | Twin Oaks DH - The Meat of the Segment. Wide and straight. One place where a Clyde like me could hit KOM, but what's the point? I'd like to live a few more years.
My regular commute-4 miles almost dead flat-I recently did at 18.5 average. Mild tailwind, catching most of the lights.
Occasional long commute-29 miles ~1200 feet vertical, most climbing under 5% with about a 400 foot net drop- my fastest was late last year. About 16 average

20k time trial 9/7/13. 37:26 = 19.9 mph (Flat course on a fixie)
Flying 200m at a velodrome in 00:17.2 = just a hair over 26 mph.

51-52 on a long downhill, according to GPS. It was not pleasant or comfortable - unless you have full gear you are in a WORLD of hurt if you crash.
I was waaaaaay more comfortable at 160+ on an old Kawasaki 1100 with racing leathers, armored gloves, and a full face helmet than on that downhill.
Wont do either again (Kawi was sold to fund the cannondale and masi)

I typically hit 36 mph on my 30 mile rides, down normal hills I enjoy that speed as I still have control of the bike. I'm more concerned with my avg speed. Stoked I got 19.3 mph avg tonight on my 1st b-group ride.
