Is this a good bike? and a good deal? (trek)

Looks like a good bike but I question the 'very low miles' statement. Some of the components look like they've seen some miles. Look it over carefully.

Noticed that too - the RD and the cranks, for example.

What do you see on the cranks? I see scratches on the RD but nothing wrong with the cranks. They look really clean to me.

I saw that too. I'm a pretty new bike rider, Would yall have any tips to look for when going over a used bike?
You know how people often have their mechanic check a used car? At the price of this bike, I think that would be a good idea too. - And then get a fitting because the current setup of that bike is horrific. The handlbar is higher than the saddle on a top performance racing bike. Ridiculous! Value? Depends on the condition of the wheels. If the wheels still have a full life in them left, then yes. If you need to replace them again within a year? It may not be a great deal. This is where this friend or shop mechanic could help you again. |

Beyond that, it's tough to see the condition of the wheels and tires in these pictures. I also wonder how old those brakes are... The frame may be a 2013, but everything else on the bike looks older. |
Just FYI the guy selling that bike buys and sells bike regularly. He purchases them on many different sources and list them for sale on craigslist.(just to be clear, there isn't anything wrong with that) But know that he doesn't personally ride them or know the "history" of them. So take the "low milage" statement with a grain of salt. That being said it looks like a legit bike for a good deal in my opinion.

Zipp 101's went for like $700-800 discounted so that's not an unreasonable price. The bike does look like it's done many thousands of miles though. Either that or the original owner stripped the groupset off of it and installed some old parts he had laying around (that's quite a mix of components.)
We have a few bike flippers around here. They tend to ask pretty high prices relative to end of year closeout pricing of brand new bikes. |
Would buy at $1500, not at his listed price.
|
Yeah, I'd buy it, but just be weary when you are purchasing.

Thanks guys for your feedback, I think I'm holding off on this one. I don't like the idea of all the mixed parts.
