Wow, I am beat from today's ride. We did 55 miles and allegedly 5000 feet of climbing. There were some short climbs that had to be 15 or 16%. I had my Ti Habanero, which has 53/39 and 12-23, so at these steep sections I was in my bailout 39-23 and barely turning the pedals over.
I am beat. Did I mention that?
The end is near. Did I mention that??

Yes it still has the dork disk in the pictures, it is off now. I was trying to beat the rain and failed anyway. Rode for 90 min on a mix of non technical single track, sand and trail. I turned around after I bit it in a puddle that was knee high water. So much more fun than road biking. Why didn't I do this sooner??
Giant Talon Hardtail 27.5" (650b). Deore components, and pneumatic disc brakes.

Speaking of career crises, I have my own little one. Not really as interesting or moving as stoney or heathpack.
I want to semi-retire and work about half as much as I do, but in turn I want to make half of what I make.
The problem is in my current practice, my overhead is essentially fixed and allocated to me, whatever money I generate above overhead goes to me...and VERY roughly speaking the overhead is 50% (rent, staffing, utilities, malpractice, etc)....so if I keep my current job, and work half as much, instead of getting half my salary, I would get....NOTHING.
That's a problem.

Yes you did. And the fat lady is in rehearsal.
Yes, and I have one more session to do today . . . doing two-a-days to get ready.
I used to play any and everything except pitcher and catcher in my younger days. At this stage in life I might have to x-out 3rd base, though.

I recommend first base, you get to be involved in almost every play but don't have to really do much beyond catching the ball. It's the best return on effort IMO.

Peloton Shelter Dog
We opened up for the Backpack Snack Attack fundraiser in Warwick a couple of week ago. The way the early dinner crowd was reacting, being characterized as background noise would have been an upgrade for us. And we played great. I could hear our sound bouncing off the open courtyard, sounded like we were playing in Bryce Canyon, and it really did sound very good, I was happy with our performance. I spoke with a few veteran local entertainers who all rolled their eyes and told me that's pretty par for the course, particularly @ dinner events like that. We've since played another place and we went over great.
So it goes. Eff the stupid audience. I don't do this for them. They can eat me.

I just got a nice little box of schwag from PBK. I was surprised to see it was a plain brown box. In the past my shipments were always wrapped in those blue bags.
Nothing amazing in the box, a pair of GP 4000s in 25 width for the Roubaix, a new cassette and chain.
edit: also a pair of look keo cleats, grey/4.5 deg float
