Giant Defy 2 vs Trek 1.5 - new bike, which is better?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giant Defy 2 vs Trek 1.5 - new bike, which is better?

Hi All - I'm a semi-experienced road rider. I'm looking to trade up from an old Trek, but can't decide if Giant Defy 2 or Trek 1.5 is better. They're priced the same (in UK). Shimano Tiagra on both. Giant has its own design wheels and front brake. Does it really matter? I'm lookinfg for a fast-ish bike for 3-5 hour rides.
Many thanks

Did you ride them to check the fit and see if one feels better than the other?

Both are really nice in this price range. Depends on fit. Trek has a little longer top tube relative to standover, although trek is far from extreme in this regard.

Test ride each for twenty minutes (shifting frequently). Make certain that you up take them both uphill.

Next, make your selection!
