Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It says so in the title. Kind of like at the grocery store when they change the label on the shampoo.

It's a technicality. The "Rules" were unmentionable in the other thread even though there was a general consensus/agreement because they weren't mentioned at the start of the thread. Here they are clearly stated and so you can dot an eye (as in blacken someone's eye, I do know how to spell) for forgetting or breaking the Rules…

but really it's just cuz all the cool people hang out here.

Some guidelines:
1) For best results, stage your bike properly:
a) against a neutral background
b) drive chain out with chain on large crank and one of the smaller cassette cogs
c) cranks at any angle except 90 or 45 degrees
d) remove seat bags, water bottles, lights, etc. (we really just want to see your bike, not your accessories)
e) valve stems at 6:00 and, if possible, tire logos properly aligned on rim.

2) Be prepared to handle criticism and not take this thread too seriously.
3) If you must criticize try and be constructive and not mean. We all can enjoy a good ribbing now and then and some tongue in cheek humor, but let's not get carried away or make it personal.
4) A "not" should be followed by a pic of your bike. (Unless you've posted it here previously)

(if I left something out, let me know and I'll add it)

I've been through the gauntlet with my bike so I can tell you, it's not that bad. Just have fun, post your ride and let's enjoy.

Hot

This is not my picture, but my experience is similar.

Crud, if that happens to the glossy lizard skins i just put on mine I'm going to be pissed. I just put zipp cx tape on my other bike and they seem pretty decent.

I suppose if a few saboteurs really want to ruin it for everyone they could not follow the guidelines here and start with the personal attacks and general nastiness but whats the point of that since there's always the other hot r not?

The blue and the purple don't make any sense and the chain is in the little ring, but I can't help but like this.... Hot.

Nice classic frame but the bar tape, the anodized post and cages are too much and detract from the bike. Not

...is frumpy a euphemism for comfortable ? In the old days, we called them saddles. I have so much to learn about this stuff.

For some reason this really works. The purple bartape seems to go well with the frame, not so sure on the blue bits. Chain needs to be in the big ring. I give it a hot.

...I actually stuck a Brooks Pro on it after these were taken, but have no photos. When I did the saddle swap I felt like a whorish conformist. #follower

I have so many damn bikes that clips are the only way I can hope to ride them all, even with my access to an endless stream of used clipless at the co-op.
