I eventually did as @wphamilton suggested, and got a helmet with a visor really cheap from aliexpress (it was half price when I purchased it at @35USD) and have added RX lens inserts to the visor. It is a great feel of freedom since I have no wind nor lenses in my eyes and nothing heavy on my nose. I think I'll get a translucent yellow or clear visor for winter. I shall miss my goofy glasses though.

So do y’all know if the OPs original glasses come with transition lens? My best friend recently took my glasses, so I am in need of new pair that is both practical, aero, and looks awesome. Also if it protects my eyes from the cold that’s a bonus.

I am still rocking the visor (and lenses) which is now yellow as remains my cycling wear.
I don't ride as low as I did so often, partly because I prefer the sphinx position, except when I need to have my hands on the brakes at high speed.
The glasses could be made with any lenses, including transition, and remain practical for those who want to get low but I recommend the ultra tough Trivex (as I am now using) which does not come in photochromic at least in the store that I purchased from.

But to piggy back on you. I personally don’t like wearing contacts. After wearing them for about 6 hours my eyes start to hate me. On regular rides or training rides I wear my glasses that have transition lens.
I will wear contacts when I race, so I can wear my cycling appropriate sun glasses. That might sound silly, but one of the guys on my team has a gnarly scar across his face and almost lost an eye wearing metal framed glasses at a race.

I may have recommended these before somewhere, but they deserve their own thread.
When I am low on my road bike I get a pain in my neck from having to put my heads up so that I can see out of my spectacles, rather than above them.
I had a local Optician create some cycling glasses with very tall frames on top of some half framed reading glasses. My eyes end up looking like those of Goofy (cartoon dog) but the tall glasses allow me to look out of the tops of my eyes, limited only by my brows. They really need to be this tall to be able to achieve this.

There are literally companies who invest in R&D and develop cycling specific glasses (Oakley, Smith, etc., not to name them). There are also helmet with built in glasses...

The OP has very specific needs related to his very extreme position on his road bike, and was experimenting with a solution that he wasn't finding with typical manufacturers. You're also responding to a post that is almost 9 years old.

I like my Oakley metal-frame, aviator-ish style glasses for driving and general walking around stuff. Bike is all plastic. Sure, you could theoretically skewer your eyeball with a plastic earpiece, too, but it seems less likely. I guess I could also fall down while walking down the sidewalk, too, but again, that seems less likely than on a bike.

Well, I agree, but some don't.
I found that these literal companies did not make prescription inserts that go up higher than ordinary glasses.
(In general, I think that literal companies provide a lot of tosh a lot of the time)
