Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

# 2 for sure. Bold and in your face. I like it. Just the way the 41 should be.

The problem with #1 is the FB - I agree that too many people will confuse Bike Forums with Face Book and that's, like, stupid. What a kill joy having to explain it's not facebook you idiot. Now, if it said Bike Forums, that would be different.

The belief that black is hotter is a myth. If you feel a difference between black and white in the heat then it's in your head. I've been through this whole subject in the sportbike scene concerning leather jackets and track suits. There have been numerous studies shown disproving the myth. If anything, black is better because you'll cool down faster in the shade. Bedouins who live in the desert wear black robes. If it was hotter they wouldn't wear black.

I had to check this, and really really hope we don't digress further into a black and white discussion. Loose fitting layered black in the wind may be more comfortable, but black w/o the air movement between the garment and skin will be warmer. We already know black absorbs / radiates heat more than white. It's the application that counts. As it turns out, "...Under cold conditions with no wind speed, black, flattened plumage held in heat the best..," "But...even a modest wind...about 7 m.p.h. fluffed white plumage exhibit the lowest net heat loss. This explains the large number of arctic animals that are fluffy and white. It's not just camouflage. The "...fluffed black plumage is the best at reducing the amount of heat transmitted to the skin. Flattened black plumage is the worst in terms of heat gain no matter what the windspeed."

"The Bedouin secret lies in the convection breeze set up when the warmer air inside a dark robe rises faster and escapes upward through the porous material, sucking in air from below. So a black robe winds up being no hotter, and its circulating air may even make things more comfortable. Notice that a key element in this system working is the convection made possible by the escape of air through the porous material."

Don't forget that black offers better SPF protection. I hear the Bedouins are very particular about their skin, exfoliating nightly and doing anything they can to keep it youthful. Rumor has it that they created the first face mask from an extinct desert bears blood and ground tissue reduction. Smooth skin seems the more likely reason they wear black.

Funny you mentioned it ... I'm 56, and have good skin yet, though a little pale most of the year. I used to wear black long sleeve shirts when young and have, in general, tried to keep my skin protected. Right now I'm (in the office) with black loose long sleeve dress shirt.

How is it messy? Count the numbers and be done with it...nothing messy about it.

I completely agree. At the same time I see the minimalism as Rapha-esque but I did/still do like where some of the other directions were going. I think the forums does need to pick a designer and just move on with it....which is essentially what this thread is, there is a clear split in numbers between the two designers presented here. More than half the people voting and commenting aren't going to be doing the buying anyway.

When RT and I went at it for the first run, we mostly consulted between ourselves and then presented the option. If you liked it you bought it. It went well. I wanted to do the same here and work with EnstiMike on a design, privately, then present the option and sell it! But instead he just started a committee post.

I am looking into production options now. Spoke with Pactimo, already have the run-down on Primal since we used them last time.

This one. Though at this point they both don't mean anything. I am just going to make what I like, find a manufacturer and start a post that has the jersey and where to buy!

Maybe I can do a black and a white option...Pactimo has 5 piece minimums

It would be cool if you could add a waving hand gesture to the front of the jersey.

Pactimo has 5 week production time after the proofs are approved. Then 4-7 day shipping time.

So you were just teasing us. Nice. Even this thread is 41 all the way. I'm more than a little confused, but we'll see how they will probably look and the cost. Gotta start saving up.

Number 1 for me! I like the design and 3 and 4 have HTFU which is kinda overplayed to me.

Enjoi07, with low minimums like that I hope you can arrange to offer more than one sleeve length. I would like to see all three: long, short, and the Houston/Miami favorite, sleeveless. I guess the additional sleeve options would require some additional design tweaks on the sleeves and sleeveless shoulders. I know you are up to that if required! How about it? Can I count on you to expand the offering?

Yea, you can call it a tease I guess. My style is pretty consistent. What I am saying is that I am going to do what I want in regards to what I feel is best, based on my 10+ years in the design business. I think people want a rad looking kit, with references to Bike Forums that aren't overt or cheesy. I have NEVER liked HTFU on the jersey because I think it is played out and EVERY cyclist "gets it already" which is why I always hid in the back pocket. I changed it because I was sliiightly influenced by opinion but now I am just going to go back to trusting my gut. I DO think some of the options with stripes were nice as well so that may come back. Who knows, I will consult with a close circle of fellow designers on those decisions.

I am referencing Pactimo right now because they are the first ones I have contacted...but in reality their jerseys seem a little pricey. I want to go back through your threads/e-mails on shipping to see how you handled it all with Primal. It is just going to take some time since I am handling design and production this time...unless someone else wants to manage production

I am not expecting anything out of this one. I will buy my own jersey. It seemed like figuring out reimbursement for that was terrible. Maybe I could do an optional donation.

If I take lead on design I am more than willing to do various cuts.
