How much more supple do you want? If youre on a 23, try something bigger. Its already a 330 TPI. Try a set of Vittoria EVO CX's, or get some tubulars. If none of those work, Ive seen some pretty sweet deals beach cruisers at Performance or a Pugsley bike here or there

lol, GP4000s are 110 TPI though. Continental marketing department is very happy with you right now.

tried the 23mm and 25mm and they're ok but not great.
running a set of shwalbe durano s tires now and so far so good.
not sure about wear yet.

IIRC where I read, they arent 110 TPI total. If it was total 110, they would be horse **** for tires. Its 110 per layer, Combined all 3 layers were 330 TPI.

If you want a supple ride, but don't want to spend a lot of cash, try Michelin PRO4 SC tires. They wear about the same as GP4000s tires(okay for a race tire) but are cheaper and more supple.
With wider hoops, the ride is every bit as nice as the best tubulars around.

+1 suppleness is to do with the tpi in one layer/axis , so 330 tpi is superior to 110tpi layered, that is pretty obvious.
And they are "horse ****" for tyres but admittedly they are more durable than the other high end tyres.
I would recommend the Veloflex Corsa 23 or 25 instead, there is a big difference in ride quality and RR (may be a placebo effect since the ride is so much better, LOL).

A higher TPI makes for a more supple tire because less rubber is needed to make the carcass. I don't see how the bottom two layers would help in that regard but of course I'm no tire engineer. I had a set of those. IMO the $28 Forte Pro+ is more supple. Outstanding tires, actually. They just don't have the cool brand name on the outside.

bought a set of Mich Pro 4 SC...immediatly noticed the better ride quality. 2000+ miles later, not even so much as a single flat.
(100psi, 23mm tires on 23mm ROL Race SL wheels)
Long story short...next set of tires will be Pro 4...

I'm using Conti GP4000s on both rigs and for the price, cannot complain about how well they perform and the wear I get from them. I did recently have one fail - hit a very decent rock in low-light, and fatally damaged the sidewall - but all in all, they are a fairly good value tyre that work well in wet/dry and are good enough to race on for a hack such as myself.
